The fifth-highest-ranked team in the world will be without its best player in Germany.

Aurora will play IEM Cologne with Yasin "⁠xfl0ud⁠" Koç as a stand-in for Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş, who is set to miss the event "due to family reasons."

The absence of their best player will come as a big blow to the Turkish squad in their first event after the tournament break, which they would've hoped to kick off on a good note after their perfect playoff streak in 2025 came to a sour end at the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

xfl0ud is no stranger to the players, having played on and off with the core from October 2021 to May 2023, and will temporarily link up with them again on loan from HEROIC after he was benched to make room for Linus "⁠nilo⁠" Bergman during the break.

The 22-year-old Turk averaged a 1.12 rating during his six-month stint with HEROIC, with that number jumping up to 1.18 in the last three months as he ended the season on a high with solid showings at IEM Dallas and. the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

Tbf the backpain for Xantares is KINDA fair, but everything including earthquake is kinda bs, you could afford to skip some tournaments. Fan backlash shouldnt even be a matter and new jersey thing even though it was kind of their dream to win in EF and not Aurora still isnt a big factor. Its more that the fans were sad than the players

Well this is true. I wouldn't say Aurora are even favourites anymore with their star player gone, so they're at a severe disadvantage this tournament, meaning there is a genuine reason for failure, but also makes success all the more yearnful.
