IEM Cologne 2025Spirit fight past HEROIC in zweih debut
HEROIC made comeback attempts on both maps, but couldn't handle the firepower of donk and sh1ro.
Spirit have ensured a winning debut for new boy Ivan "zweih" Gogin at IEM Cologne, taking down HEROIC on Ancient (16-14) and Nuke (13-8) to secure a 2-0 series victory.
This result sees Spirit earn an upper bracket matchup with Aurora, whilst HEROIC head down to the lower bracket to take on Ninjas in Pyjamas.

HEROIC's offense put Spirit under pressure early on Ancient with an up-tempo, execute heavy style. The Russian side came up with two low-buy wins, however, which allowed them to romp to a dominant score off the back of big fragging by Danil "donk" Kryshkovets and Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov.
In the second half HEROIC hauled themselves back into contention with a proactive defense, Simon "yxngstxr" Boije in particular finding immense success with aggressive pushes. Combined with an effective shutdown of donk in middle HEROIC got to the brink of winning in regulation, but a vital Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotia multi-kill and clutch, after a slow game up to that point, sent the map to OT.
Spirit adjusted in overtime to take the map over the line, punishing HEROIC's aggressive CT approach to great success, to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Nuke was the sh1ro show, the Russian AWPer running rampant across both halves to carry Spirit to victory. HEROIC teased a potential comeback early in the second half, but losing a 5v3 advantage to a zont1x 4K and another round to a Spirit half-buy proved to be their undoing.
zweih quiet on Spirit debut
HEROIC put up a stiff fight against Spirit in the Russian side's first game with their new man, zweih.
zweih enjoyed a reasonably successful series in his CT-side anchor spots, but struggled to find much joy playing the extremities on the T side, although he was often tasked with supporting donk's fights in Middle on Ancient.
It's early days to be judging Spirit's latest transfer, but a winning debut is a good start.
