The IEM Cologne champions came out on top of the Russian derby in two maps.
Spirit are through to the semi-final stage of BLAST Bounty Season 2 with a 2-0 victory against Virtus.pro, extending their win streak with Ivan "zweih" Gogin to eight series.
Following three-map affairs against Passion UA and G2 in the online stages, the IEM Cologne champions delivered their best performance of the tournament so far. After going down 3-9 on their map pick, Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov's troops simply kicked into a higher gear, locking down Ancient and Overpass after a dominant 23-4 run.
Spirit jumped out to an early lead on the T side of Ancient, but Virtus.pro took control of proceedings when the game reached the gun rounds. Spirit looked surprisingly lackluster and out of sync throughout the rest of the half as VP went on a dominant 9-1 run, only briefly interrupted by a 1v2 clutch from chopper.
The complexion of the game changed once the teams switched sides. Danil "donk" Kryshkovets and Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov combined for 30 frags on the CT side as Spirit put up a near-flawless defensive performance, with the Russian AWPer contributing with several clutches throughout the half to prevent Virtus.pro from gaining any momentum.
Virtus.pro never really stood a chance on Overpass, where they picked up only two rounds on the T side as Spirit were in control from the get-go, led by donk, who ended the first half on a 2.11 rating.
A triple kill from Petr "fame" Bolyshev when Virtus.pro were up against match point merely delayed the inevitable as Spirit quickly put the game and the series past their opponents.
