MOUZ eliminate Virtus.pro from EWC in three-map series

The Brollan-led squad moves on to the quarter-finals, where they will face Falcons.

MOUZ eliminated Virtus.pro from the Esports World Cup despite falling 0-1 on the Russian squad's Inferno pick without showing much poise.

There was not much to the series after the first two maps, one-sided affairs on Inferno, 13-6 to Virtus.pro, and Mirage, 13-4 to MOUZ.

Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov and company dominated the T side of Inferno with pace changes, while MOUZ were unable to put up a solid hold on either site. A 5-7 half was swiftly closed out by Virtus.pro in seven rounds.

On Mirage, a 1vs3 clutch by Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi while up 3-0 put MOUZ miles ahead of Virtus.pro, who only won their first round of the map after trailing by nine. The Israeli rifler also had another higlight, taking out three players in a B hit to turn a page on his poor Inferno performance.

Overpass finally delivered. Jimi "⁠Jimpphat⁠" Salo, who kicked off the map with a triple in the pistols, was front and center, with a 6.18% Swing. The map was tied after the first half, 6-6, and MOUZ fought hard on the attack to win it.

Spinx was once again one of the heroes, with a 1.84 T-side Rating and 26 kills by the end of the 23 rounds of regulation.

Notably absent throughout the series were two of the big names in the server, Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy, and Ádám "⁠torzsi⁠" Torzsás, as both players went in the red in all three maps. The Hungarian AWPer finished above only his team's IGL, with a 0.83 Rating, while the Russian rifler was at the bottom of VP with a 0.84.
