NIP and Passion UA out of DraculaN early

The tournament's two biggest favorites have been eliminated without a single win to their names.

Ninjas in Pyjamas and Passion UA have been sent home early from DraculaN Season 1 after suffering their second consecutive losses to the playoffs.

Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer and company found themselves on the brink of elimination on Friday after being humbled by EYEBALLERS, and their second matchup against ENCE came down to the same fate as they received a beating on the deciding Overpass.

"Results-wise, it's just been embarrassing," Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström told Graham "⁠messioso⁠" Pitt in an interview after Ninjas in Pyjamas's elimination. "We were showing a good level in practice with the new team and we played well in Cologne, and we come home from there and that's where the struggle began."

"It seems like we can't really find our game anymore. Coming in here, it's very disappointing that we can't translate practice into officials. It's embarrassing," he went on.

Ninjas in Pyjamas's early elimination will hamper the team in its quest to snatch one of the last few Budapest Major spots that are still on the line.

They can only hope to turn things around at StarLadder StarSeries Fall in mid-September and more open LANs such as DraculaN that have been cropping up left and right just ahead of the Major invite cut-off in early October.

Meanwhile, Passion UA's first loss to Monte came down to just a few rounds, but they couldn't recover by Saturday morning and got outclassed by 9INE to go out of the tournament without a single map win.

Although the team is all but guaranteed to make it to the Major already, it is a debut gone awry for a former Complexity core that has just made the switch to the new organization and a missed opportunity to recover from the team's recent downturn in results, which has seen them drop to No. 32 on the VRS.

"We didn't come into the tournament with a lot of practice with the new roster and new coaches, but I think considering the level of the tournament, we'd hope to at least make the final," Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou told messioso after Passion UA's elimination.

"It wasn't a good showing from us. We just have to go back to practice and figure out what's going wrong, because in general we haven't had a really good season, so it's worrying signs."
