ESL Impact League's eighth season kicks off

The online phase of the biggest women's league is getting underway across all three regions.

FURIA hope to defend their Season 7 title over the next two months

The eighth season of ESL Impact League is kicking off this Wednesday with the online phase in Europe, South America and North America.

A total of 32 teams will be fighting over the next two months for eight spots at the seasonal finals, taking place in Stockholm in late November and boasting a $223,000 prize pool.

Europe

Four spots are on offer in Europe, home to the Imperial Valkyries, who will be looking to return to the throne after suffering their first Impact loss in Season 7 to their Brazilian rivals, FURIA fe.

They will be heavy favorites to grab first place in Group B and a direct Stockholm berth, opposite NIP Impact, who snatched the top spot in the group stage last season and went on to place in the semi-finals in Dallas.

South America

The aforementioned reigning champions, FURIA fe, will be top dogs to secure one of two spots on offer in South America, along with MIBR fe, who beat their rivals to a Lótus Challenge 2025 title last month to break a long run of their dominance in the region.

Over in North America, the former Supernova Comets squad now competing under Shimmer hopes to build on a surprise run to the grand final in Season 7.
