The Mongolian team has risen to the top of Valve's rankings ahead of the Budapest Major. Here is how it all began.

The MongolZ have captured the hearts of many Counter-Strike fans around the world and claimed one of the best feel-good stories in the history of the franchise after surpassing even the wildest expectations in 2025.

After ending the first half of the season with an incredible runner-up finish at the Austin Major, the Mongolians claimed their first Big Event title in August by winning the Esports World Cup. And on September 15, The MongolZ reached another major milestone when they moved up to No.1 in Valve's global ranking.

It's an incredible achievement for a team from a country with a population of just 3.5 million people. The MongolZ have become so influential in Mongolia that their watch parties regularly draw thousands of fans, and Mongolian-language streams keep setting new records.

What's also cool is CS has a history of national teams from France, Sweden, and Denmark dominating the scene. Now those have faded away, and the international team is the norm, and of all the nations with the most successful national team, it's Mongolia.

Denmark is a much more developed country than Mongolia and also has the advantage of being in Europe and having stable internet connection.

Its maybe not as representative of the current state of head to head competition as the HLTV ranking, but it shows they have had consistently impressive results when it matters, and they're definitely a top 3 team this season

Nah, the government still not helping at all. Some people believe esport is addictive such as an opium. Therefore, there are still drawbacks and pressure coming from the government. However, many people keep saying to the government that they shouldn't mess this glory and legacy if they cannot help. In the end, I believe the government will support and treat like other sport athletes in my home country.
