ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 1B8 beat G2 at EPL S22 to move closer to Budapest Major berth
G2 now require two straight wins to make it to the next stage in Sweden.
B8 have defeated G2 in the 1-1 pool of ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 1 with a 2-1 scoreline (Mirage 13-9, Dust2 7-13, Ancient 13-2) to move themselves one win away from Stage 2.
The victory also gave B8 46 points and two spots in the VRS, which currently puts them 14th in the projected Major invites list — well within the 16th-place cut-off.
Andrii "npl" Kukharskyi's troops are now one win away from the EPL S22 Stage 2 as they enter the 2-1 pool, while G2 surprisingly stare in the eye of elimination after back-to-back losses to Gentle Mates and B8.
The series began with both teams winning their map picks, Mirage and Dust2, with relative comfort, which meant that the victor would be decided on Ancient.
B8 came out of the blocks flying and went up 6-0 before G2 put together a two-round streak, but that was as good as it got for Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač's troops.
The half ended 10-2 in B8's favor thanks to some masterful retakes by the Ukrainian side, and a second-half pistol victory made their triumph simply a matter of time, with Dmytro "esenthial" Tsvir's 1vs3 proving to be the final nail in G2's coffin.
