Legacy send FURIA to 1-2 pool at EPL

FURIA are in danger of an early exit from ESL Pro League.

Legacy have pulled off a memorable victory by taking FURIA down 2-0 at ESL Pro League Stage 1, taking the Brazilian derby with wins on Dust2 (13-9) and Mirage (13-11).

A lacklustre FURIA were their own worst enemy at times throughout this series, repeatedly losing rounds in which they had the advantage, whether due to numbers or the economy. Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo and his men lost to a second round force-buy on each map and went 13-9 in first kills on Dust2, yet lost the map 9-13.

Despite turning the tides somewhat on Mirage and winning some miraculous rounds of their own, FURIA suffered from some slow individual performances by their stars on Mirage, notably Kaike "⁠KSCERATO⁠" Cerato and Danil "⁠molodoy⁠" Golubenko.

Legacy took full advantage of FURIA's struggles to close the series in two, Eduardo "⁠dumau⁠" Wolkmer shining bright as a potent T side pushed his team over the line.

If the loss wasn't bad enough, the fact FURIA didn't send this series to a decider will sting. Mirage is a map that FURIA, prior to this series, had a 90% winrate on in the last three months, and Lucas "⁠lux⁠" Meneghini was quick to mention the work his team had put in during a post-match interview.

"We weren't playing a good Mirage and stayed up until the late hours trying to figure out how to play these guys, how to play the Mirage, because we were struggling a lot on CT. I'm really happy with our evolution."

FURIA still have time to right the ship and sail into the next stage of ESL Pro League, but losses to HOTU and Legacy have left them looking frail. Legacy meanwhile have bounced back admirably from their opening loss to B8 and have two changes to book a spot in Stage 2.
