G2 advance to EPL S22 Stage 2 over ENCE

The squad led by huNter- secured their qualification with a 2-0 victory in the decider series.

G2 beat ENCE 2-0 and punched their ticket to ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 2, eliminating the Finnish organization's team in the final match of the Stage 1 Swiss group stage.

The Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač-led squad have looked shaky in Sweden after promising results at their past two events, where they raised the BLAST Open London trophy and lost in three maps to The MongolZ in the FISSURE Playground 2 quarter-finals.

An easy 2-0 victory against Rooster was followed by losses to Gentle Mates and B8 before a victory against Fluxo got them to the 2-2 pool. The victory against ENCE was a refreshing one, as a strong 9-3 half on the CT side of ENCE's Overpass with everyone firing on all cylinders preceded a 13-9 victory to take the 1-0.

Once on their Train map pick, G2 continued to chug along, with huNter- leading the way, as they turned an effective 8-4 attacking half into victory with five of six rounds on the defense to make it 13-5.

"We're not satisfied with the way we went through," the Bosnian in-game leader told the broadcast in reference to the 3-2 record his team posted in Stage 1, although he was happy with his team's decisive victory in the 2-2 pool.

huNter- himself was a driving force in G2's victory, not just with his calling and leadership, but also a 1.52 rating in the series and +4.63% swing.

"We overplayed with the new VRS system and a lot of our players are burnt out right now because we have to travel a lot and play online non-stop," ENCE's Viktor "⁠sdy⁠" Orudzhev said after the match. "We didn't have off-days, so we should probably chill a bit and then get back to work."

ENCE, who came into the tournament as a last-minute replacement team will have plenty to review when they get back to work after their 2-0 start with victories against M80 and Astralis turned sour with losses to HOTU and 3DMAX before their decider against G2.
