C4LLM3SU3 laughs about playing Vitality or MOUZ: "I'm good to take the L because we don't think we're that good right now"

Lynn Vision's rifler remained realistic about his team's chances in the tournament with a match against MOUZ or Vitality looming.

Lynn Vision scored a victory in front of their hometown fans in Chengdu, eliminating 3DMAX in a three-map series to march on in the lower bracket.

The Frenchmen had gotten the better of Lynn Vision in their past two meetings, including in an elimination match at CS Asia Championships, but the Chinese team got an important win on the board after a dejected few months following their surprise run to Stage 3 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

"We were kinda hitting a slump after the Major, we took a break and kinda overrated ourselves, so I think the downhill was starting at the beginning of the first FISSURE Playground," Qihao "C4LLM3SU3" Su told HLTV after the match.

Though this win restores some confidence, a tough match against the loser of MOUZ vs. Vitality awaits, and C4LLM3SU3 isn't getting ahead of himself.

"I'm good to take the L," he said with a smile on his face. "Because you know... we don't think we're that good right now (laughs). So we're just going to do our best, have the most fun, and see."

You can listen to the interview here.

SU3, congratulations, 2-1 over 3DMAX. Did it in front of the crowd here as well. How are you feeling after that win?

Super excited, I feel very... kinda confident in myself, because this is my first time being in front of this amount of a crowd, and with this kind of energy given to me, I can partly perform better and hype up the energy for the team.

When you started this half of the season, you were coming in off this Major run in Austin, but the results since have not been amazing. Even though you have a tough match next no matter what, since it'll be against the loser of MOUZ-Vitality, how is it to have this win now?

Our best goal was to probably make it to playoffs, but that's like... super, super tough for us to do. To be honest, our seed wasn't that bad in our bracket for winning one match, and 3DMAX is probably the best opponent we could get out of this whole bracket. We prepared well for them, so I think we deserve the win against them.

But we were kinda hitting a slump after the Major, we took a break and kinda overrated ourselves, so I think the downhill was starting at the beginning of the first FISSURE Playground. We lost to Astralis in the playoffs, and then after that, we just could not win any matches. Now, we won our first big match at a Big Event, and I think we're going to gain more confidence.

You said you got a little overconfident, is that what mainly contributed to that downhill then?

Yeah, we were kinda self-defeated, we took a half-month break and after that... we just didn't know how to play the game anymore (laughs).

You touched on it earlier, but this was your fourth time playing 3DMAX this year, they've beaten you 2-0 the last two times and even eliminated you at CS Asia Championships, so how was it to get revenge over them here?

Of course it feels nice. I think they didn't perform their best today, I think they're still jetlagged or something (laughs), because the tournament started super fast after the teams came here. But anyway, today we were working on the small parts of our team play and better in-game calls, and we ended up getting the victory.

Going into tomorrow, I mentioned the upcoming matchup already, and you talked about getting some confidence from the crowd today, that it was exciting to play in front of them. How are you looking to take that into tomorrow?

Uh... I'm good to take the L (smiles) because you know... we don't think we're that good right now (laughs). So we're just going to do our best, have the most fun, and see.

We've played against them in scrims, sometimes we win, sometimes we lost very badly, but we've never played against them in an official match so... let's see how they're going to wreck us (smiles). I've never experienced it.

The only shit here is the pre-match mentality like this. What is the point of playing in this tournament, many teams would love to have a chance to beat Vitality and these losers just write it all off before the start lmao.

that has nothing to do with this. If you don’t believe in a miracle as a player, you’ll never achieve anything. at that point, it’s pointless to compete

Talking from experience? I don't think the saying: you need to be almost or completely delusional to succeed is founded on anything substantial rather than few outliers, and it grabs attention. Fallacy

Having realistic expectations in an interview does not equal having a weak mentality. Some people don't need to prop themselves up to feel better about themselves, they just go to a server/stage/wherever when the time comes and give it their all. Sometimes you win against the odds sometimes you don't.

Most Westerners love poise they can't back up for the sake of appearances, unfortunately I would say humility like this is lost on them and so they call it 'weak-minded'

i'd rather go to this match with the mentality "we'll see what we can do" and win some rounds, than "we're gonna fucking destroy them, we can win to anyone" just to start getting demolished and lose all hope mid-game

A professional should do whatever it takes to win. And it all starts with a winner's attitude. And if you start with "oh no, they are so strong, we will lose but we try to have some fun" - you have 0 chances from the beginning. Justification of such behavior is ridiculous
