Virtus.pro eliminate FaZe from IEM Chengdu; MOUZ secure playoff berth
broky had a game to forget as FaZe bow out of the tournament in China in last place.

Virtus.pro got the best of FaZe in the first round of the IEM Chengdu group stage lower bracket, and the Finn "karrigan" Andersen-led squad is out of the tournament with an 0-2 record after an opening loss to MOUZ.
The series looked promising for the international side as they got off to a 13-8 victory on Overpass, Virtus.pro's pick, where a strong 11-1 showing on the CT side was converted into a 13-8 victory.
The series started to get crooked on FaZe's Mirage pick, where despite winning four of the first five rounds, they then could not match up to Virtus.pro and won just one of the following twelve as the Russians easily forced a decider.
A 6-2 start by Virtus.pro on the attacking side of Inferno was met with some resistance to make it a 6-6 half, but FaZe could not find a way through the defenses after the switch and were dispatched 13-7.
Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and David "frozen" Čerňanský did their best, with 1.23 and 1.15-rated performances across the three maps in the series, but the rest of the team struggled to make impact with below average ratings. Helvijs "broky" Saukants, particularly, had a day to forget with a 0.70 rating.

MOUZ and Vitality clashed on the stage for a shot at the playoffs in the Group B upper bracket semi-finals and the series went down to the decider map. MOUZ struck first on their Train pick, winning it without issues after a 9-3 half was won cleanly on the defense to make it 13-3.
Vitality then secured their Nuke pick. Robin "ropz" Kool and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut led the way with 1.96 and 1.82-rated performances in the 13-8 map that led to the Inferno decider.
MOUZ started 4-0 on the attack, but then Vitality kicked into gear on the CT side winning eight in a row to take control of the map. One name stood abover the rest, however, and it was that of Lotan "Spinx" Giladi, who powered MOUZ to a big lead and map point.
A late rally by Vitality, who won four in a row against the ropes, forced overtime. And then two more overtimes followed before MOUZ finally went on to win 22-19 to secure their spot in the playoffs.
