FURIA cruise past The MongolZ into semi-finals

Outside of pistol rounds, FURIA enjoyed a relatively easy day at the office against The MongolZ.

molodoy put up yet another star performance

FURIA have booked their place in the semi-finals at IEM Chengdu thanks to a 2-0 win over The MongolZ, bagging wins on Mirage (13-5) and Overpass (13-10).

The MongolZ had impressed at IEM Chengdu up to this point, Unudelger "controlez" Baasanjargal slotting in suprisingly well to allow the Mongolian side to exceed expectations in their first outing without Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold.

molodoy clutches 1v2 with quick flick shot through smoke

In this series, however, The MongolZ ran out of surprises. In both maps their only real success came off the back of pistol round wins and they found themselves thoroughly outclassed by FURIA in gun rounds.

On Mirage FURIA's mid-centric approach to the CT side ensured full map control, which The MongolZ couldn't find an answer to. When the sides switched FURIA won their T-side pistol round, leading to an easy victory.

molodoy stops The MongolZ's comeback with stylish ace

Overpass saw The MongolZ put up a better fight in the second half, after their offense had been comfortably outplayed. It initially seemed the map would end the same way as Mirage, The MongolZ winning and converting the pistol only to slip to a meek defeat, but Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch and Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold combined to turn a 3v4 and kickstart a comeback.

Ultimately Danil "molodoy" Golubenko was the man to have the last laugh, the young phenom picking up the AWP at 11-10 to shut the game down with an ace before clutching up the final round, sending FURIA into the semi-finals.

Can anyone stats glazers explain how molodoy was rated 1.58 on map 1, 1.63 on map 2 but finished with a series rating of 1.57?

The final rating is not determined by an average of each of the maps, but rather a combination of all maps, resulting in a rating of 1.57.

You make it sound so simple but if you think about it that doesn’t make any sense How can you play one map well, play even better the next map then when you combine the two maps come to the conclusion that you actually played worse in the series than you did in either map? How can you add a better map to the map before and come out with a lower rating?

that's because each half is considered separately

see #40 this doesnt make sense saying each half is considered separately because the ratings from either map are made up of two halves already?? rating on ovp is 1.63 but when you consider each half separately (whatever that means) his rating goes down?

I am not suggesting "he" should do the average of each match I am saying it does not make sense for molodoys series performance to be lower than his performance on each individual map what does "he considers the rounds played mean" like what are you trying to say? If either of these maps were bo1s the rating at the end would be 1.58 or 1.63 but because "he considers the rounds played" the rating across the two maps is lower??

i've been noticing many inconsistences on rating, at this point i'm pretty sure it's being mannually adjusted all the time

I guess probably cause of K/D? If you take both mirage K/D(15/8) = 1.875 and overpass K/D(21/14) = 1.5 add them up and divide by 2, it gives a different number(1.6875) than if you get the final K/D(36/22) = 1.64, which is slightly lower. I'm not sure if that's it, and if it is, maybe there is another stat in which this also happens impacting it also.

thank you for being the only person with a real suggestion instead of just saying something stupid like each round is counted separately seems like it could be something like that - if this is true feels like a bit of a flaw in the rating system to me that you overall series rating is worse than either of your maps

Honestly, I am just very happy for controlez. He was very good all tournament, easily a top 3 MongolZ player. I'd say he was the best mongolian player in this IEM run after 910 - which was OBVIOUSLY NOT expected from him. I hope he keeps it up! :D

+molodoy probably best roster move this year. People might say +ropz, but Vitality was already a good team and we all knew ropz was good. Furia was just bad and then they put their faith into an AWPer from tier 3 and now they're easily a top 5 team.

Come on, bro. He's 100% correct on this take. Reaching playoffs with a new team after losing their best player + eliminating Spirit doing so; this was already way beyond expectations. ALSO; controlez played a REALLY GOOD run on this IEM. Imo, he was the second best MongolZ player, just behind 910, which was not even close to the expected for him, who never played T1 at 28yo. Like, he was *insanely* good if you apply context and really think about it.

Senzu wins these. In all seriousness pretty wp for a first tournament with a new addition, controlez is doing as well as i expected him to do so there are no worries for The MongolZ i think
