FairFrag take first place at NeXen

FairFrag have been crowned winners of the NeXen 2010 LAN in Lille, France, after seeing off Burning! in the grand final.

The newly introduced team of FairFrag, formerly known as YoYoTech, were able to secure the first place at NeXen 2010 this weekend, claiming a spot for DreamHack Summer.

NeXen gathered a total of 39 teams, among them names like Mojawi, D4Gaming and aAa. FairFrag had no problems making it to the quarter finals, where they knocked out prodigy-esc, followed by sending mythiX home packing. As the team reached the grand final, Burning! could do no less than face a 0-2 defeat.

This leaves the NeXen 2010 standings as:

1. France FairFrag
2. France Burning!
3. France mythiX
4. France Mojawi
5-8. France prodigy-esc
5-8. France D4Gaming
5-8. France ORBITAL
5-8. France aAa

FairFrag will be on site in Jönköping, Sweden, for the DreamHack Summer event, taking on teams such as fnatic, SK Gaming, compLexity and others.

admins have a lot to do cuz there's always sth that goes wrong in a french lan (for example, the first matches of this nexen started sth like 6 hour later than it was meant to be), so i'm not sure they would have the time to give all the information to hltv.org's reporters anyways the french LANs have only a few interesting matches, i'm not sure it's worth a full coverage from such a website as this one. Maybe a blog from a french user with the ips and some info would be enough

Feels like France got 4 eaqually skilled teams, but none of them are good enough to produce great results against internation competition. I can only imagine how it is for french CS-fans to play with their own "french dreamteam" cause when it`s 3-4 good teams, it must be irritating not to see that the 5 best from the whole scene, not playing together.

Always like that with France. We don't have a very good orga which can gather the best anymore. We used to have goodgame. Then emuLate were really good although the orga was kind of bad. Well, I'm still curious about how FF is going to perform at dreamhack. HaRts and ioRek are really experienced and the three others are not beginners (they did WCG 08 with Ee). I guess top8, even top4 if they don't meet fnatic/SK in quarter finals.

aAa, D4, Burning, FairFrag, Mojawi are all very skilled teams but yeah the problem is all the talent is split up, if say SIXER, Geno, MAJ3R, mSx and R!Go formed a team they would be easily a top 10 team maybe even top 5 like the old -M- and emL was, but right now all top players are split up

line up : Dafunk, Atlantis, eternalz, faculty & instanz. I guess it's not the same without Heuka's leading... But I always thought they were playing weird strats which werent especially succesfull. They have great players with great aims, but i think they need some changing with positions.

oh not that sad, imo they did really well, considered the fact that they just changed their leader for someone who doesn't really know the previous tactics of the team (and still they really made it hard for mojawi to beat them)

I don't think it would work out the same... Na'Vi have something special. it's more than just insane skill and getting along with each other, they really "understood" something about CS. a superteam in France wouldn't do that well... ofc it would still be much better than having all the best players splitted between different teams, but they wouldn't reach Na'Vi's level imo. plus honestly, I don't think they are good friends.

CS french scene is rly weak at the moment (good players, aims but bad teamplay, strange and non successfull strats on inter). Teams need to pracc more and elaborate good strats on each map, to counter international teams. That's what Na'Vi did! They won Fnatic at IEM4 because they studied well Fnatic strats and positionning. Carn noticed it on Arbalet Europe and surprised them with new moves especially on Terrorist side. I hope Harts will show some smart calls and choose good positions for his teammates. If it happens they can go top5 imho.

Na'Vi worked on this 12h/day. plus markeloff is better than sixeR with awp, and Edward is better than mSx with pistols and guns. cArn is a freakin genius. he has been one of the best igl for years, if not the best, keeping fnatic at the top with incredibly efficient tactics, although being constantly studied by other teams (unlike French teams which are pretty much free to do whatever they want as nobody studies them xD). you just can't compare all of this with what we have. we have potential, for sure, but it will need a LOT more work to become something internationally meaningful.

the only player in france able to take a team to an international event is HaRts. he's the only who knows how to play in international events! He was emL's tactical leader! and now he's FairFrag. I'm not surprised for their qualification for DH Summer! They didn't make good results lasts weeks cuz they saved strategies to be sure to win this tournament i think! and I'm happy to see that Diodel is making a new reputation after his stupid activation in esl ...

When you compare mojawi games & NaVi games or fnatic games you just laugh, they have very strange way of playing & they don't have teamplay maybe they don't all talk a fluent french or maybe they need changes because i don't think that they can go far with P0My & loduN (maybe in internet :-} top1 EPS no match loose)
