mibr disqualified from KODE5 LC
Made in Brazil have been disqualified from the KODE5 Latin America Last Chance qualifier after arriving late to a match.
The Brazilian team had moved past every opponent during the group stage, and required just a win against Colombian side Hadouken in the quarter-finals to secure entry into the main event.
"In the middle of the afternoon, three of mibr players went to the hotel where they wre staying to check out so that they would not have to pay for one more night," a mibr statement read. "The organisation was aware and allowed the players to go, saying the match would take about an hour and half to start.
"Meanwhile, the players encountered heavy traffic (also because of the rain), making them arrive late."
The Last Chance qualifier, which was supposed to end on Friday, had been postponed to Saturday following power outages in Bogota, which caused the tournament to be delayed by over 10 hours.
The 2006 ESWC champions have lashed out at the organisation running the tournament, indicating they were put under pressure by several teams to disqualify mibr from the competition.
"According to Felipe "frz4tw" Cardoso, of GoldenGlory, who is also in Colombia, the decision to give Hadouken a WO was because of pressure from the Colombian teams and also from some Argentines, who had no involvement in the affair," mibr state.
"When mibr arrived at the event we tried to reason with the admins, who were inflexible."
KODE5 Latin America will now continue with the main tournament, where the likes of XIX and Wild Ineters will contest the one spot to the Global Finals.
