Haha, like Chinese people know English. Have you ever even visited China?? Ive lived a year in Moscow and i can say for a fact that russians doesnt speak English that well.. Only young people have kinda "started" to learn it, but most of them are really bad at it. THey dont get in contact with English at all there, all movies/tv are dubbed, they have a big music insdustry and a really big country-> Why would they need English. Its the problem with big countries.. They dont really "need" to know another language.

True, even if they move to another country or live in a country which has different official language, then it means that ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE must learn the Russian language.. it is so in Estonia. In Estonian schools many students whonder why they have to learn Russian, then my teacher told,"if you don't speak Russian, then you may get stabbed in some places"

Half of asia couldnt care less about English, unless they have a strong tourism going on and many foreigners come to their country. Asia's very big, and it has many languages, why would they prioritize learning english when they could instead learn their neighbours' language? And go to France and try speaking English to someone. They KNOW English, but they'll try their hardest to pretend they DONT know it. You go to someone's country, you either talk their language or cant complain. Knowing English is a plus, but its no country's obligation. edit: that being said... english forum = english posts.

At least, Russia is not pushing all the states of the world to speak Russian language, they just love their language and do not care for others. Mentality of the state is such that they simply enjoy their self-sufficiency, and I don't see any problem in that.

The reason why English is the most widely used language in business, and by extension everywhere else, is that its the easiest language to learn. Would be nice to know why they got disqualified before the tournament even started though.
