We are proud to announce our latest, but not last, site from the HLTV.org business.

In celebration of the upcoming football World Cup we have released a brand new football site called Owngoal.org.

The page will provide coverage of all major football events including Champions League, World Cup, Euro League and more.

Since we are all about gaming the site will furthermore offer news and information about football games such as FIFA Pro Evolution Soccer, Football manager, Hattrick etc.

Besides the regular forum, featuring debates about games, leagues and tournament, each country will receive a national forum where everyone is allowed to debate in their native language.

We will also provide virtual betting competitions for the tournaments we will be covering where cool prizes are up for grabs. The first betting contest is based on the upcoming World Cup where the first prize is a national jersey.

We will be looking forward to providing to the lastest news, video clips, livescores and much more.

HLTV.org staff will be looking forward to discussing if FIFA actually is better than PES or if England once again has the team to take home the trophy.

Agree. It should be called football, instead of soccer. I don't know where that name came from but for Europeans, most of them find it as an insult to be called soccer for their sacred sport. Anyway, let's enjoy the WORLD CUP !!!

Yeah. That's pretty much the same for me. I mean, I don't mind if they call their own game "American Football". But they should keep the original name for football as football, not soccer which almost has the same pronunciation for word 'sucker'. That's an insult for me personally because I love the game so much. I grew up playing it a lot. =D

Many sites do, but none of them seem small and community minded, they are all huge sites with little emphasis on discussion and interaction if you ask me.. Feel free to not use the site, we are just trying stuff out, took us a week to create the site since we had the HLTV.org base, so it isn't a huge deal.. :)

Love that you are always innovative and hard working. Can i ask how many web developers hltv have? Or is Nomad just Mr. 48hour day... I also think its a pretty smart idea, wouldnt take long to convert the code, aldready have users and selecting a upcoming popular topic. Good extra advert space and nice service at once. :) I think its sad that the new site is basically the same site just with green, banner and different content. I also think there is something strange about the name of the site. Hope you put a lot of thought into it, and im wrong. The code is amazing as always. Good opportunities. My advise as newly educated MMU, would be to try to distinquise this site more from hltv.org than adding green and banner. Its same type, same way of presenting the data, same tables and dimensions in generel, and same icons. Understand why, but could be good! With all theese new projects at hltv.org i would like to offer my free help in return for years of great service. Field experience is good no matter what.

Yea, afraid it is just me coding.. ;) We know they look very alike, the site was created in about a week, I agree with you on all your points, but it easily comes down to if we have anyone to do the gfx, Neffet has been working hard for the updated graphics for this site, also, the coding would have taken much longer if we were to change the design radically.. But who knows, maybe HLTV.org will start looking differently sooner rather than later and suddenly the two sites wont be so alike? ;) If you'd like to help out then we should talk for sure, we are always interested in getting talented people..

The site will NOT be run by the HLTV.org coverage crew, they will all stick with HLTV.org and CS, the only overlap is me for the coding (which is shared between the site, so any enhancements on either side are shared), and Martin is not active in the daily HLTV.org activities, so not to worry, we are very aware of our priorities. :)

Not sure it's going work. Unless your plan is to attract people from HLTV, only. People have other sites to turn to for sports - More professionally. You going to attend WC2010 and bring us interviews and Live cover? Or maybe just stick to reading from BBC, SKY and other ones and just basically copy their news but word it differently? Am I missing something here...?

So obviously we cannot compete on content with the big boys here at first, so it will be reposted news yes, now what we are trying is to get a bit of the HLTV.org magic into the football coverage, e.g. the match pages where you can discuss matches before and while they are being played.. We know that it will be mainly HLTV.org users at first, but they need a place to discuss football too.. We will be expanding the site if it gets popular, if we can get enough money to send people on-site to actual matches we will of course try something like this, but it is naturally much harder than in CS, so we'll see.. We are very aware that this might not go anywhere at all, that is also why we have not done a completely new page, but instead restyled HLTV.org, that has given us a very quick turn around time and now we have test the waters.. There will be another site hopefully launched this summer which will have focus on a esport title, and with a much more different design..

Okey! This is just awesome! I love colors of the page and idea of making it, but I got one question. It's won't influence on HLTV.org, will it? Don't worry, the crews are different, Nix and MIRAA will only be doing HLTV.org, Martin will be managing Owngoal.org, but he is not in the daily operations of HLTV.org anyways, and I will be doing the code for both sites, but since they share 95% of their code improvements will benefit both sites, we love HLTV.org and it will always be first, don't worry! :)

Well, we could have copied the entire userdb, but decided against it, some might not like to have their user moved.. In the future there will be some kind of integration so you can simply transfer your user with one click, as there will be other sites in the HLTV.org network, hopefully one more launching this summer.. :)
