Portugal joins ESWC qualifier list
The Electronic Sports World Cup has announced that Portugal will stage a qualifier for this year's World Finals.
Portugal had initially seen its name listed on the ESWC official website, but it was later removed after Fraglider, the company which had organised the qualifier there for years, remained silent on the matter.
However, the ESWC has now added Portugal's name to the list of countries involved in the Counter-Strike competition, which indicates that a qualifier will take place there after all.
Although no info on the qualifier has been released, HLTV.org has learned that it will most likely take place in Lisbon in two weeks' time.
Several Portuguese teams, such as k1ck and Phantoms, had already applied for one of the eight invited slots to be handed out, but with Portugal organising a qualifier despite expectations, their application will no longer be considered.
The ESWC Counter-Strike list has now been expanded to 30 places, distributed as follows:
01 - ESWC 2010 INVITATION #1
02 - ESWC 2010 INVITATION #2
03 - ESWC 2010 INVITATION #3
