No ESWC qualifier in the UK

The UK qualifier for Electronic Sports World Cup 2010 will not be featuring Counter-Strike.

Back in March, Game Frontier Ltd announced they had partnered up with ESWC, to organize qualifiers in the UK, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates.

As we reach the end of the qualification stage for ESWC 2010, the information for the UK qualifier has now been revealed. Taking place 19-20 of June at the National Media Museum in Bradford, the UK qualifier will only feature two games; Quake Live and FIFA 10.

United Kingdom has for a long time been listed on the ESWC website, set to ship one team to the 2010 event. But with the announcement of the UK qualifier, it turns out there will be no teams hailing from the UK at ESWC 2010.

well mate if you don't know then please don't speak at all. I somehow agree with you since h3ro1n couldn't say anything more that he usually says. Latvia is pretty much even with UK in CS 1.6 except we don't have organization that would support teams and EPS ( I think you have them ).

The point isn't if they have a good team or not, ESWC and WCG and a few more better LANs are maybe the only ways for unknown teams to become better known, Like CPL was before. And if ESWC and WCG get those ELITE team only statuses then there won't be any CPL like tournaments left, where everyone who wants to participate can :)

thats not the point of eswc! we want to see teams from all over the globe battle it out, countries finest! also dignitas isn't as bad as its made out to be. yeah they wouldnt do much against teams like fnatic but there aren't alot of teams left which aren't going to eswc that can

This is the reason why uk teams are bad at lans, no qualifiers last year, none this year and the best of the teams get to go to 1/2 lans a year. Back in days of 4k uk had an org that paid wages and the team was actually sent by the org to plenty of lans each year and as a result could compete with the best.

I don't understand people who are pleased with these situations. This is bad for all CS scenes, a big country like UK (maybe they're not in their best moment) without a ESWC qualifier. Something is not working. The same shit happens in Spain, but we are lucky to have Level Up to bring us some qualifiers like Kode5 and ESWC.

Well one could assume that it's their organizers fault, or their sponsors can't afford to send a CS team, either way this is the first year of the "new" ESWC so there could still be some skeptics.
