H2k forced to use pop at ESWC

H2k Gaming will be forced to use Danny "pop" Oldenburg at ESWC 2010, due to the ESWC regulations.

The Swedish team qualified for ESWC 2010 by winning the 2010 Swedish Championship, which acted as qualifier for the ESWC. H2k has since then undergone changes, swapping three players in the process.

The ESWC regulations prevent H2k Gaming in attending with their latest lineup, which has forced them to use Danny "pop" Oldenburg for the event. Oldenburg was one of the members who qualified for ESWC with H2k back in April, together with Richard "Xizt" Landström and Markus "pronax" Wallsten. This means that Niklas "niko" Johansson will have to follow the event from the spectating rows, as he will still travel with the team to Paris.

The ESWC regulations state the following:

"If a team's member can't participate at the ESWC Grand Final due to sickness or any other unforeseen event, the team will be able to replace him by another player if the team's composition is still composed of a majority of members with the same nationality as the ESWC National Final country.

The team will be able to change a maximum of two team's members due to sickness or any other unforeseen event. Otherwise the team won't be eligible to participate and will be replace by the next highest team from its ESWC National Final tournament’s ranking. If no other  team  from the top four of the ESWC National Final tournament’s ranking can't participate the slot won't be replaced."

This means that H2k Gaming will play with following five at ESWC 2010:

Sweden Danny "pop" Oldenburg
Sweden Richard "Xizt" Landström
Sweden Markus "pronax" Wallsten
Sweden Frej "kHRYSTAL" Sjöström
Sweden Emil "FYRR73" Karlsson

H2k Gaming will learn who they will face in the first group stage later today, when the groups for ESWC 2010 will be drawn.

Note that we have replaced Danny "pop" Oldenburg with Niklas "niko" Johansson in the Dreamteam game, people who have Johansson in their teams are responsible for selling him.

what poor guy...I agree niko must be disappointed (and I am a big fan of niko) but think about pop for a moment... pop was part of the team that won this qualification and played his part in its success....if anything he deserves to be at this ESWC more than FYRR73, khrystal or niko....he was part of the original team that won this in the first place... I see this as justice...

Good luck H2K. niko has been doing very good lately, hope pop will do the same. If they stick together, this team can be amazing.

niko and pop is pretty much equal so can't see the loss beside that they have been practising with niko and not pop.

no it isn't, just for the event cause he can't go to the event?? thought that would of been intuitive of 'niko will miss the event due to rules saying they must use another player for the event' but i guess not...

it's a standard core3 rule, u must use 3 of the 5 players your qualified with (majority of the team). This is stop teams getting really good players to qual, with no intention of using them in the final.

Huge loss really, hope they can make it something good with pop as they probably didn't expect niko to go and have to get pop informed with the new tacs and stuff from prac in such short notice.
