ESWC 2010 group draw

The group draw for the 2010 edition of the ESWC world finals has been made.

FireGamers have been handed yet another draw with fnatic, after the two teams were paired together at the WCG Finals. In Chengdu, FG beat the Swedish side 17-13 but were still out of the tournament after finishing in third place. Norwegian representative Oslo Lions make up Group E.

Frag eXecutors are widely expected to progress as they will clash H2k Gaming, The Elder Gods and KaOs.

Group G also looks to be a very interesting one, as Evil Geniuses, PinG and Fair Frag will all contest a spot in the next stage.

This year's ESWC tournament will feature 28 teams, who have been drawn into four groups of four teams and four groups of three teams. The top two placed sides into then progress to a second group stage, which will be followed by a single-elimination phase, played in best-of-three mode.

Ofc it's harder at a bo3, but still it isn't random. If you, as you say, have one perfect map, then you do, then it's not random that you win that map. I see your point though, and it's true, but it's not RANDOM.

if you play your map = you win if you play other map = you propobly lose (I mean low team) often it's a draw for maps at BO1 or it's said by admins, so it's random, to be lucky to play at that map

That way it's random, yes, but that's not what you and everyone else are saying, you're just saying it's random as soon it's bo1 bla bla bla. It's up to the teams to practice ALL maps then. You never see football teams playing elimination rounds for example complaining that it's random and that they would place higher than the team they crash out against in a league?

it's easier to preper good one map, then all five the same good, so team who just preper one map can sometimes eliminate top team like fnatic or navi at BO1, but it's much harder then at BO3

Ofc it's harder at a bo3, but if the rules say bo1, then the rules say bo1 and those are the rules you play with, you just have to bite the sour apple. It's also up to the top teams to make sure they are good on all 5 maps, and to know which maps the other teams are good at and why they are so. ;)

Group A: death group. SK takes top spot and the three remaining teams have to battle it out. Group B: normal group. H2k and Fx share two available spots. Group C: semi-normal group. United and WMF share the two spots, but Mojawi can really tackle either of them and get away with the ticker to the play offs. Group D: normal group. First place - mTw, second - Alternate, no surprises here. Group E: really depends - a death group wannabe for sure. Fnatic takes top spot and FG have to show all they;ve got against the Norwegians. Group E: normal group disguised as a death group. NaVi take top spot, Tyloo takes the second one. Complexity should be thankful for such a high seed, but I don't think they will make it eitherway. Group G: evenly matched - a death group for sure. Group H: Mouz takes the stop and Playzone may be able to get the other one.

Group A: SK should win this group easy. The 2nd place will be a fight between Delta and Burning but I think Burning will take it. Group B: fX and H2k will advance, though I wouldn't be too sure of fX getting the 1st spot... :D Group C: A really tough group actually, my prediction: 1: WMF 2: UNiTED. But I hope B4G can grab the 2nd spot instead of UNiTED! Group D: Too easy for mTw, 2nd spot will be a fight between Alternate and k1ck. Group E: I think fnatic will finish on top, though they could as well finish 2nd. Remember fnatic are usually not as strong in the groupplay as they are later on. I think FireGamers will take the 2nd spot. Lions just aren't that good (sorry D:) Group F: Na Vi on top of course, I will be really surprised if they even lose a map in the grouppplay. TyLoo gets the 2nd spot. Group G: This group is probably the tightest one. 3 teams that are pretty much equal in skill (imo), it will be tough! Prediction: 1: EG 2: Fair Frag Group H: Pretty easy group for mouz, but can Playzone.fi nail 2nd place? I think so.
