Poland confirmed at ESWC

HLTV.org has learned that Poland will be featured in the Counter-Strike tournament at the ESWC world finals.

There had been doubts about the Polish teams' involvement in the CS competition after the main sponsor of the qualifier decided to pull the plug on its support of the qualified teams and players, leaving 28 representatives without a way to travel to Paris.

It had also been confirmed that the Polish players' license fee had not been fully paid by the sponsor, which further cast doubt about their chances of competing in Paris.

However, after contacted by the Polish organisers, the ESWC has decided that all qualified teams and players from Poland will be allowed to participate in the tournament and will be provided accommodation for the event with no further costs.

Due to these delays, most Polish representatives at ESWC will travel to Paris by train, which has made the tournament change the order in which the groups will be played, as both DELTA and Frag eXecutors were due to play their first matches at 1030 CET. This means that Groups A and B will only start at 1530 CET.

Stay tuned to HLTV.org for up-to-date info on the 2010 edition of the ESWC world finals.

kinda surprised that the whole schedule is changed just so that poles can play their games. that's great, but it wouldn't be wierd to me if organizers decided to just start without delta and frag executors

propobly, ESWC asked other teams if they are able to play earlier and they agreed, if they didnt agree, event would start without fx and delta

Good solution, would be silly to make the other teams play eachother at 10:30 then wait for the polish teams to arrive.

We can imagine that they will be sleeping while they are coming to Paris, don't you think that? But of course it's not the same as if you were 1 day before like every team... let's think it won't afect their game.

they were traveling from 18:00 CET to 10:00 CET, so they got like 5h rest looking at FX group, they should win it anyway and then have a rest, but I'm really afraid of Delta, who with little luck, could pass group stage

It wasn't their problem... The problem was made on POLISH side. The people that are makin ESWC in Paris didn't have to do anything with this... As far as I know.

Hell no! I Remember one tournament around 2006 or something where Hesesses had made some really good advertisment trailer for the tournament and on the video it flamed that there'd be "1 Million prize money!" and the shit had around 30-40 sponsors... Then there weren't enough computers delivered or something and it all came down to the fact that I think 8 CS clans played one map heads up against one clan and the winner tooked 2500$.. so the Counter-Strike tournament had 4 matches and total of 10k prize money ... Anybody else remember the name of da'Shit ?

cmon guy...ESWC aren't responsble for the sh*t some sponsors do...they could have just said "you didn't pay, you won't play", but they accepted all polish players, and changed the schedule for them...that's a bad organisation?

ESWC has done all they can to make it possible for the Polish teams to participate, you should blame the sponsor who didn't pay their share of the flight money.

very nice from ESWC organizators ! Thank you so much for changing the schedule and making some accomondations for players. And I'm also very proud of polish players who are struggling to get to Paris so hard. GL Btw. on some polish site they noticed that Kuben lost his rucksack with all the equipment, however I doubt it

Nice seeing someone come up with the joke of de_train and then suddenly 10 more just come up with it themselves, was it something in the air around that time that made everyone become so funny at the same time? :o
