FireGamers to play OT against H2k

In a shocking decision, the ESWC has ruled that FireGamers will play against H2k Gaming in overtime for the second spot of the group

The Brazilian team had placed second of their group, ahead of H2k, following a 29-1 victory over Mojawi Gaming, but the Swedish side complained to the referees about the result.

After losing the first half 14-1, Mojawi quit the server half way through the second session, when the score was 19-1, with the remaining rounds going FireGamers' way.

As a way to punish Mojawi for leaving the server, the ESWC organisation has decided to disqualify the French team from the tournament, in order to prevent similar situations from happening in the future.

Mojawi's disqualification would leave FG out of the tournament as all of the French team's results have been removed, but on the grounds of fairplay, the ESWC have opted for a different solution.

FireGamers and H2k Gaming will now play in overtime to decide who follows group leaders SK Gaming into the knock-out stages.

They are NOT penalising FG for anything, but YES, the result is in bad favor for FG. ESWC followed their own rules and disqualified Mojawi, which as a result erases all of their previous matches. But of course FG couldn't take that in account in any way, but they can't just go through either, since it would be a very non-fair and against their own rules. Am i the only one who sees this as fair? Both got the chance to qualify... The best advances...???

yes its true, but as in all other matches, eswc has the obrigation to follow the same rules! in a couple of games, the teams who coulnt win or stay in the tournament quited their matches and 'gave' the rest of rounds to the other team. so why would mojawi be the only team disqualified by this action? it woulnt be fair...

it could happen what happened, mojawi dropped the motivation and was not going to play serious anyway... they had nothing to win while firegamers depended of those rounds to pass, so don't say the organisation is being fair, they did understand mojawi message when they left the game, they're just playing stupid.

My opinion on this situation is that two wrongs do not make a right. The admins should have forced mojawi to play out the remaining rounds. That they didnt at the time is their error. Had they played out as was required it is nearly undoubtable that FG would have gained the rounds required as they were performing well against a team who was not. This is how it always is in any tournament. Now they have to go above and beyond what is required of them. Also, im curious as to whether this kind of decision is condoned by the ESWC's rulebook?
