fnatic explain GuX situation

fnatic have issued a statement to bring light to the capture of Rasmus "GuX" Stahl from SK Gaming.

SK Gaming announced earlier today that Stahl was set to return to fnatic just five months after joining the team.

The 2010 ESWC runners-up added that Stahl declined the chance to play at Arbalet Cup Dallas this week, in what would be his last event for SK, after being offered money by fnatic.

However, fnatic have now quashed SK's claims, stating that Stahl was never under a contract with the team.

"Last Tuesday I called [SK chief] Alex Mueller as soon as I heard that our players had been chatting with Gux about rejoining and that Gux had no contract," fnatic managing director Sam Mathews told the team's website.

"We spoke about the situation and how we would resolve it, Alex said he would get back to me. We were prepared to pay for him if we had to, a nominal fee to show our respect for SK Gaming and to try and make the situation as smooth as possible as it's not easy giving up one of the world's best players."

fnatic went on to explain that Stahl was unsettled at SK, who had not paid for his salary for the past two months or the prize money from several tournaments he attended with the team.

"We did not hear anything back from SK, and were afraid that should Gux travel to Arbalet Cup Dallas having no agreement from SK about his salary or prizemoney that he would come back even worse off, giving SK the benefit of the doubt and potentially losing any money owed to him.

"So we offered an option to make himself secure, and stop SK from bullying him into going by saying that they could withold all money owed to him.

"Our players all pitched in to donate a fee, whilst FnaticMSI also offered to pay for his salary for this month, should SK revoke his rights to any further money.

"This is the money which would have gone to SK should we have bought Gux out of his contract. But with SK having no interest in dealing with FnaticMSI we had to leave the situation in Gux's hands."

The former Blank player noted that, when confronted with the fact that he would not attend Arbalet Cup Dallas if he did not get his money, SK decided against using him for the event.

"I gave SK an ultimatum, if they did not pay me my salary and my prize money I would not go to the Arbalet Cup in Dallas and I would leave as of today," Stahl added.

"The information about me getting paid for not going to Arbalet Cup Dallas is completely wrong, what Fnatic has offered me is to pay some of the salary and prize money that SK declines to do and owes me."

fnatic now have the following team:

Actually that by itself really doesn't prove anything. Let me explain: If the person is leaning towards one side it will align it's statements with said side's statement to not stand in a bad light. Possibly to shed bad light onto the other side. To project to this scenario: GuX wants to Fnatic. Regardless of what really is happening/has happened he wants the best for himself and fnatic so makes a statement that plays into the hands of fnatic and is bad for SK. NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE. Just making an example of how GuXs statement doesn't really prove anything.

A spoken contract is just as binding as a written one if both sides agree to it. Usually it is followed up by a written contract. However there is no obligation. I obviously don't know any details about the situation but with some good luck on SKs part and some bad luck on GuXs part this could go in favor of SK in court. But it's most likely not worth it. Before anything goes in front of a judge Arbalet is long over and even if a judge would/could make GuX play Arbalet, why should he perform.

Not necessarily as another user pointed out, why wouldn't any of his other SK team members voice their concerns over not getting paid his salary or winnings and not having a contract? This type of issue would be a concern to all the members of the SK team since if this could happen to Gux it might happen to them in the future as well. Truth is this could be all unfounded until SK makes a counter-statement.

I love the SK players always been a big fan, was sad to see tentpole leave, and then to see this happen. There can't be any doubt there are things going wrong with in the organization. Fnatic also gave a lot more detail in the explanation of what hapend, so they probably were telling the truth about everything that was said. This doesn't mean fnatic might not have left out details that makes them look worse, but no organization should post badly about themselves. Happy to see gux back with fnatic, and am excited to see fnatic back on top :D

SK didnt really lie, they just didnt say the whole truth, the same can probably be said for fnatic, but i think SK looks worse here, especially since their history, and their negative talk of fnatic. SK talked poorly of fnatic, while fnatic talked about events that occured which reflect poorly on SK. But for SK to blame fnatic for gux not going to arbalet is wrong, because IMO they're obliged to pay him his winnings and salary, and for them to say come to this last tournament with us we promise we'll pay you, when they haven't been paying him is just down right shady. So SK shouldn't be posting that fnatic relationship is ruined because they paid gux to not go to a tourney they're not attending.

At first I thought that this was very uncharacteristic from fnatic, but when I read the situation from their point of view, it all made sense. This is not the first time SK-players don't get paid, that's also the reason why Tentpole left. IMO, SK has always treated new players and players overall kinda bad, new players getting kicked within two weeks "didn't fit in socially" blablabla and now this. This is a new level of low for SK, I thought it wasn't possible to sink even lower.

the responsibility of that mess put on SK no doubt. Sam Mathews or anyone else will never lie to international gaming-site as HLTV.org about "teamplayer payment/prizes". If Sam said that SK didn't pay him (to GuX) and also GuX said that too, so SK are the responsibality of that mess. There is no liers in that case imo, because each of the two mangers, Alex & Sam tell the truth, but Alex SK gaming manager tell us only the half of the story, and Sam FnaticMSI manager complete it and make the picture become more clear.

i think it's good for fnatic, threat is a great player but, he never make the difference, and he never played very well. so gux is an amazing open fraggers and when he played for fnatic it was the greatest time of fnatic. so wait next tournament and you'll see fnatic at the top

Hahah if this is 100% true: Which im not sure about because zr0 reminds me of Jason Lake the lying snake, always trying to come across as the "good guys" and make SK (3D/Torbull) look bad; then I think the only reason that SK are using MODDII is because there literally isn't anyone else who would consider playing for them...which is a shame

Everybody in the team had contact with Gux until last evening when we were practicing for Dallas. We asked him if the rumours regarding his return to fnatic was true and he answered no. Gux has had a contract lying at home for five months but has refused to sign it. We told him to sign it and send it to the SK offices so he could get his salary and his prize money, but he didn't. He answered that he didn't trust SK. We don't pay salaries if the players don't sign their contracts, that's the way it's handled everywhere. I could easily triple his pay if he wanted to, but loyalty and team spirit (his words, actually) is more important to me than being the best team in the world. I also want to welcome moddii as a try-out in the team and I hope that he fits well into the team. I've been on the lookout for him for a long time and I think he'll do a much better job than Gux, who didn't really shine until the last two tournaments. I'm disappointed, but motivated to the max. Anton Budak, Counter Strike Team Manger, SK-Gaming, I know there are fans that are as pumped up as me.

I love what fnatic have done in this situation, realizing that SK had a financial problem and took advantage of it, because they are competitors. However I think it shows poor management skills from SK to let Gux go (If the statement from him is true). It really shouldn't be that easy to "hijack" one of the top players of the world to your team. I think it shows how much the e-sport still has to improve to become more professional...
