dsn: "All odds are against us"

Prior to the Grand Final in the IEM5 Global Challenge Shanghai, we got hold of the fnatic sniper Harley "dsn" Örwall to question him about the expectations for the final and how it was to play a match over two days.

The match against Natus Vincere once again turned out to be a high quality one between the two teams. The match got postponed and third map had to be played today. This is however not something that worried the fnatic guys, Örwall explains.

"Well of course it was a bit of a bummer because we were in a good streak as we won de_dust2 in overtime. We would have been happy to play right away, because losing an overtime is always frustrating and I felt that Na´Vi probably would have been a bit down and not so good as they usually are.

But today was no problem, we usually wake up pretty early, most of us are a bit jet lagged and even though the match was a bit early, we woke up around 06:30 and it wasn't really any problem. We should have won it a bit earlier though, as we had 15-10 over them."

Another match against the Ukrainians and once again it came down to the wire on all three maps. It could not have been any close and the fnatic sniper mentions that this is one of the most intense matches in his career.

"I think this best of three series is about as close as it gets. It could have gone either way, but we were lucky enough to end up victorious. The match is probably one of the most intense matches I have ever played."

TyLoo.raw managed to beat TyLoo 16-0 on de_nuke, but Örwall believes that there might have been a lot of anti-stratting going on, as the two teams might have been practising against each other.

"We are happy to play TyLoo.raw on de_nuke. The two TyLoo teams might have been practicing together and it might have been a bit like anti-stratting each other in that match. But de_nuke is a pretty good map for us, looking forward to play it, we will at least not remove it and I believe we would have good changes on this map."

Örwall is also aware of what they have to worry about when facing the Chinese team and explains how important it is for them to win the early rounds of the match.

"The only thing I think we have to worry about is them getting the momentum early, even though we do not care so much about a team getting the momentum, we know we can turn any game around. Also if we start out by losing a lot of rounds, we quickly become a lot better as a team, but it’s very important for us to win those early rounds."

The fnatic team will be playing a Chinese team in China, something that has been a huge problem for the Swedes in the past, a curse Örwall is looking forward to break.

"Well statistically all odds are against us, we have played in China a lot of times and we only managed to win WEM last year, if we win this time, then it's two Chinese tournaments in a row. That would feel really great because then the curse of us playing in China is officially broken.

Playing Chinese teams in China is always hard for some reason, at least for us. They always seem to do a lot better here than in Europe or in the U.S. They will have the home crowd, be comfortable with the time-zone, so I expect a close game."

fnatic will be facing off against TyLoo.raw at 07:00CET, which is the Grand Final in the IEM5 Global Challenge Shanghai.

And why won't you mention that to achieve all this he had to sit around 24/7 in his room playing CS? Because that makes him a nerd ;)I see we are 2 different people. If you had the chance to be like dsn, you WOULD sit around all day practising. I wouldn't. Can you imagine how much time he had to sacrifice to be on this level? Im guessing it took him years of practice. And so what he travels all around the world. You think they have the time to see anything? NO. For example now when they went to Shanghai, they did nothing but practice. Girls want to be their girlfriends? WTF? Where the fuck did you get that from?

I have a better life than you or dsn will ever have ;)

How can you judge me if your opinion about me is based on something that I wrote on a forum that usually is checked by 12-15yr olds? And if you don't understand why I think I have a better life than dsn, chat to me in private I'll explain it to you there.

Playing computer games for 5 hrs a day? Oh what a chore that would be compared to a 9-5 job at your local Tesco Express. Besides, most don't play 5hrs a day. Only when tournaments come up do they put the time in

You're wrong. From what I know FX played 7h a day. Usually from 5pm until midnight. When they were practising for a tournament even more. So tell me, is it better to go out and have fun or stay home and play a computer game until you can't keep your eyes open? And one more thing, I don't know if CosmiQ is your friend and you share the same opinion, but he wrote Im full of myself. Well, from what I see I guess you're 10 times more full of yourself than I ever was.

If they didn't want to play, they would 'retire' FX aren't forced to play from '5pm till midnight' I expect they do it because it suits them. Again... It's not the worst job in the world getting paid to play games and travel around the world... How that is sad is beyond me

Im not saying its not a nice way to earn money, what Im saying is that in their free time they have to play CS. If they don't they won't win and if they don't win they get kicked out. Its simple. Some of them go to work, some are still in school and they don't have all day to just wonder around and practise whenever they want. I would actually prefer to go out and have fun rather than stay home and practise all day and be really unfit to then win some money. Just my point of view. And no, I don't work at the local Tesco Express ;)

if you dont know anything then i suggest u keep your mouth shut! For the first, these players travel around the world 5-10 times/year if not even more... a average worker travels at max 2 times per year.. i saw an interview with get_right and he said he had about 40h playtime and thats in two weeks.. thats not much at all... thats 2 and a half hour work everyday thats fucking luxury if u make that kind of money that their making... so dont come say that u have it better then them... they have it 3 times better then a average worker ffs!

You yourself should keep your mouth shut ;) A couple of weeks ago somebody translated the interview with LUq where he said many many things. One of them was that when he was in FX they trained for 5h and when an event came up even more. Im going to write this once more. Do you realize how much time did he have to practice to be on that level? Im guessing it was something like 10/7.
