ESWC settling prize payouts
Electronic Sports World Cup assures that the vowed prize money for their 2010 tournament is in the process of being paid out.
Just days after the Electronic Sports World Cup 2010 had been concluded, HLTV.org reported that the ESWC had been in a financial feud with one of their subcontractors. Reseau Local, the company which provided computers and administration during their French qualifier, had not received their payment of $15,000.
In the aftermath of the French qualifier, Planet Saturn had pulled out as a sponsor, and it was believed that several others would follow.
This raised questions if ESWC actually were able to pay out the promised $213,500 they had set aside for prizes. The following day, Groupe Coutant Finances chairman Jean Marie Coutant, who owns 80 percent of Games Solution, assured that the prize money would be issued in 30 days, provided that players had informed them with their banking details.
This year's prize money had been settled by a bank loan at the French bank Société Générale, and Overseas Business Manager for Games-Solution, Grégorio Machadinho, has now confirmed that the payment process has started, as promised.
Machadinho states that they have already settled 25 of the payments, naming teams such as SK Gaming and Frag eXecutors. He also adds that they have yet to pay out 10 parties, but this is because those involved have not notified them with the banking details.
Games Solutions is currently working on gathering the necessary information, and promises that another wave of payments will be wired during August.
