Swedish B-team overcome Denmark

Sweden is one step closer to defend their ENC title, following a 2-0 victory against Denmark in the semi-final.

When Sweden announced their lineup for the 2010 ASUS ENC finals, the community was disappointed in the lineup that would represent the blue and yellow coloured Vikings in Cologne. In what was mentioned as a B-team for Sweden, many called out Denmark to be team to win the match.

Played at gamescom in Cologne, Sweden and Demark started the semi-final on de_tuscan. The Danes won the pistol round as CT, but Sweden then went on to take the second round, which really hurt the Danes. The Swedes continued with momentum going high and produced an 11-4 score line at halftime. Sweden continued their dominance as CT, winning the pistol round and without much trouble reaching map point at 15-7. The Danes then kicked in a comeback, bringing the game to a 15-14 score, but did not succeed in bringing it to overtime, as Sweden picked up the last round it win 16-14.

Moving on to second map de_train, Denmark won the right to start on the stronger CT side. Denmark picked the pistol round, which ignited a strong defence from the red and white coloured Vikings. Sweden kicked back towards the end, despite being down 8-0 the Swedes managed to get five rounds, while Denmark claimed ten. Sweden managed to win the CT pistol round, followed by the next two rounds, brining the game to a 10-8 score. Denmark went on to successfully win two rounds in a row, but then Sweden denied them in taking any more, winning eight straight rounds to win 16-12 and 2-0 overall.

Despite attending the event with a "B-team", Sweden stressed that they are still Denmark superior. Sweden move on to face the winner of the second semi-final, which will feature Ukraine and Russia.

Denmark will still play one more match, as they will face the losing team of the second semi-final, to determine which team will place third. Both the Grand Final as well as the third place decider match, will be played tomorrow.

Not that big of a surprise.. Imo Sweden is the biggest/best counterstrike nation and do have so many talents compared to other countries :]

yep B-Team.A-Team would have been 3 players from fnatic (cArn/f0rest/GeT_RiGhT) and 1/2 from SK or any other 2 skilled players free agents

I would only change threat to f0rest, and here we are, an A team. Maybe change fyrr73 to moddii too, but not neceserily.

lol, suddenly all the denmark lovers are sweden lovers. What happened? GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, cArn, Delpan and face would the A-team for Sweden, if you only can have 3 players from one team. Anyways, I think that this Swedish "B" team will get their assed whooped by starix, Edward, markeloff, Blade and craft1k :-)

Nope but we do have the respect and knowledge with the Sweden-cs-nation capabilities. But the Danish team should probably have won (or at least won a map) so yes its all acceptable but still a bit disappointing :-) *edit* This maybe give a more clear picture. This was Zonic words before the match: I expect a very difficult match against Sweden. Many believe that we should be able to beat them because they offer as a "B team". In my view, Sweden has a lot of good players, and all of their team has great qualities. When it is said, I do expect we go all the way ... It's our turn now! "

Well, you haven't chosen the best player to be classified as 'B' player xD As for me, it is merely due to the huge potential of players that Sweden has that one might have thought of different players as the 'A' team, beginning with cArn who is their best IGL.

Well, it all depends on opinion. This team has the right formula, and are playing really good. There is a dispute about their lineup every year, but they still always win. Who knows if some other lineup would have come this far, you never know :)

Sure, a matter of opinion and taste as some may prefer some players over others. As for this line-up having the formula, well, I think they just respected the igl+goodrifler+goodawp one and this one, with two more talented players, usually always works well ;)

Ye, niko FYR773 and threat play together for a long time, and don't forget that GTR played with them before he moved to fnatic, and if I remember well they were kicking the shit out for both fnatic and SK for some time before they split eventually. For Delpan I don't even have to add anything, he's a monster-fragger with both rifles and the big green gun :)

a good news, nix0n but do you ore any other here know why? that is the main question in my mind ATM?? cArn has done a GREAT job this hole season of ESL ASUS, using the best possible lineup all the time, whit himself, f0rest, guX, GTR and delpan.. then WHY the hell throw away the finals? i thought there was a lot of money involved in this cup/season? i yest don't get it! when you have players/AIM STARS as, guX, f0rest, MODDI, face, xizt, allen, kHRYSTHAL.. and that is yest so many that are a better choice then,fyrrte, niko and at least better than threat.. (even if threat is a good caller, so maybe he deserve it)
