wCrea dump Danish team

It is now official that the French organization wCrea decided to drop its recently acquired Danish Counter-Strike division.

On Wednesday, the 4th of August, the French-based organization made the headlines with an unexpected acquisition of the Danish team p00nhandlers. The move came right after wCrea's former French line-up broke up.

The newly acquired division then attracted the spotlight, when they managed to shock mTw in the final of the Danish WCG qualifier, booking themselves the number one spot as national representatives for the Grand Final, in Los Angeles. Everything seemed to progress in the right direction.

Unfortunately for both sides, the collaboration lasted little over a month, as today the French organization announced that they have ended their links with the Danes. wCrea states that the reason for the breakup is based on the fact that the team would not be representing the organisation at the WCG 2010, but instead Team Denmark.

The French sought to negotiate with the Danish WCG organizer in order to allow the team's attendance as wCrea, but all was declined. The squad had additionally applied for travel to be paid for their coach, which was also declined by the Danish WCG organizer. This made the players turn to wCrea, where no support was to be found either, which supposedly led to a heavy discussion between the two sides.

The Danes now looking for a new home.

"Today we have parted ways with the wCrea organisation. The decision was pretty easy for us. We have had a lot of discussions and arguments with Julien "Wats" Duarte in the last couple of days.

We will not comment on specific situations, but let’s just say, that we were very unhappy about the commitment and willingness to help the team as much as possible.

Even though our main focus at the moment is our participation in World Cyber Games, we are looking forward to finding a good and healthy organisation that will support us in any way possible." – Team coach Marc "MarcK" Kjærgaard told HLTV.org.

As mentioned in the statement, the following players are now looking for a new home:

Denmark Jack "wazorN" Henriksen
Denmark Timm "
ArcadioN" Henriksen
Denmark Finn "
karrigan" Andersen
Denmark Michael "
Friis" Jørgensen
Denmark Morten "
suraNga" Jensen

The line-up is currently participating in the Nordic ESL EAS, as well as preparing for the upcoming World Cyber Games 2010.

they should be representing the organization not the country. WCG isn´t a nation cup. Hope they can find a new home after WCG.

Not the team's choice. The WCG qualifier organizers probably had a stipulation stating that the team that won, would be called Team Denmark.

However its still a retarded choice and ANOTHER reason to boycot WCG. What are the huge benefits for the (Danish) WCG organisation that they will play under the name Team Denmark? Especially now when wCrea drops his team, because of this. So you can put it simply by WCG is destroying eSports, since this team is not sure if they will find a new organisation. Fuck the WCG! First of all they became way too commercial and secondly they are not even that professional...

yeah.. boycott the WCG And they're just gonna replace CS for something else. This kind of shit isnt going to affect them. And to think you're blaming Samsung for this, is it a better choice if Samsung taking their sponsorship towards CS? Also, please learn that the main WCG org isnt the one to blame because of your local WCG issues. Instead turn your rage to the license holder in your area for making such a weird rules.

You could see it at point 2, where they pointed wcg concept as an international e-sports OLYMPICS. And since when Olympics participants is representing their organization and not their nation? If fnatic decided to boycott the WCG, its their own choice... not the WCG failure. btw, Im one of fnatic's fans and sad to see how their act in this matter.

did you know about the WCG Nordic qualifiers? they dont want to make the proper qualifiers for the countries and dont want to pay the team's travells anymore. you cant say that samsung dont know or dont have to do with the problem with the qualifiers, being the WCG Grand Finals the latest parade of those teams. WCG is dying with every other game including SC:BW due to the lame ammount of qualifiers.

omg how come you're so ignorant... please, this already been explained by hundreds times. That is the rule set by YOUR OWN LOCAL WCG ORGANIZERS/YOUR LOCAL LICENSE HOLDER, even if the Main WCG org know this matter, they cant change the rules set by the LICENSE BUYER. Remember, WCG is a franchise product... this is not just some social organisation for god sake... Nordic Qualifier : In this case from what i heard, the organizers Nordic WCG [which is norway, sweden, finland] is the same person/org. If they decide to gather those 3 country into 1 Qualifier, blame them!![and remember they had a reason to do that, do you think money's falling from the sky??] That's the case why denmark had a separate qualifier. You're saying WCG is dying, I dont know if that's true.. or its just your own opinion. But one thing for sure, No matter WCG is good or bad in your eyes, if that's really what happened.. That's obviously not a good thing for the community.

From wiki: "Team Danmark is an organization funded by the Danish government through the proceeds from "Danske Spil" (the state-controlled monopoly organization for betting on sports in Denmark) with the purpose of promoting elite sports in Denmark." Didn't knew cs was a part of it, but that's really nice!

actually wcg is sort of a nations cup its the WCG that doesnt allow org.shirts to be worn and announces the teams as countries (also all players must have the nationality of the country they're repping. the team can't help it, on the other hand I understand the org then doesnt want to spend loads of money when they barely get anything back

looks like nobody said it here so I'm gonna just report what I've read elsewhere: the players from wCrea were asked to use the tag "denmark 1" during the WCG, which obviously didn't please the sponsors, who dropped wCrea. Therefore, having no money to support the team anymore and pay the coach's travel expenses, the orga behing wCrea was forced to release the team don't know if it's true but if it is that's entirely WCG's fault, once again

Not necessarily WCG but the organization that hosted the Denmark qualifier tournament, who is the one actually sending the team not the WCG tournament. If you remember the WCG qualifiers tournaments are like purchased from the WCG and ran by another org.

Yeahh, WCG will fail like CPL, ESWC, and KODE5 did as well as many others who fails these past years... and soon maybe IEM will got a little problem, and fail too... and a little later maybe arbalet would change his mind and decided to spend less money in CS... and guess what will happen on our community? maybe that's what you're hoping right?

they will fail if they dont care shit about the people. its up to us to make them understand the problems on them taking action like fnatic did. ESWC is trying to redeem themselves, something that WCG should consider, if they want to have the CS people happy. also, did you notice that WCG just broke the relationship between wcrea and their players because a name? you found that cool? wow.

Ofc i know about Nordic qualifiers. I've been quite following the story since the news fnatic boycotting the event. And why do you think WCG is obligate to make CS people happy? And why do you think WCG is CARE about your flaming? if they think thats a hassle, they just gonna replacing the game with other games? but thats NOT the case *sigh*. did you notice that its not WCG, the one who you said "Broke" wCrea x their players? guess what, its the sponsor of Denmark local WCG qualifier. Is that hard to understand that MAIN WCG ORG [SAMSUNG/KOREA] has nothing to do with each or your National WCG Qualifier? Its laughable to see how you're persist to blame WCG org while WCG org has no fail in this case.

dont start arguing about obligations, because ofcourse they are obligated to do so... however it would be really nice if they did so, even if they did a little, they could at least show some more interest in the CS scene, which is for example not like the guitar hero scene if you are feeling me. CS has been around for quite some time, with an amazing community, especially if you compare it with other esports, which mostly die within 2 years. And if you think its all about money, as you stated above, then you are simply clueless. Im also talking about retarded rules and especially admins who have no idea whatsoever about CS. Things have to change and it has to change quickly, because teams like fnatic are already boycotting the WCG. Do you think that fnatic is boycotting them only due financial reasons? No, they want to see improvements which are so easy to make only, IF ONLY, they [WCG, local host, whoever it may be] showed a little more interest in the scene and would try to improve the tournament. Which all starts by listening to the community, what they want. And just to be sure, Im not saying that the community is king and the WCG should follow their needs. No the WCG hosts this tournament and they have sponsors and certain needs and moreover responsibilities so not everything will be possible. So basically all Im saying is that there is still a lot of improvement to be made. Which starts by communicating with the community. Just ask yourself this question: If they couldnt do a better job than they are doing now, why then are there so many people [and not just random people, but also highly respected teams like fnatic] who are not happy and the person who is responsible for all this doesnt come out with simple statement why they cant implement these improvements the community asks for? Is it because they are doing such a great job or is because they just dont really care about the community?

I'm wondering why do you think WCG has any responsibilty to developing CS community? though in reality they're indeed make our community bigger from the starting day. Remember, WCG isnt a CS organisation. And they're doing this at their own free will... Besides, WCG is a company that fully sponsored by Samsung which I believe they're already spending much money for WCG. And maybe that's the same case with Mr.Arbalet. Do you think Arbalet has any obligations to CS? lol Also they ARE showing interest in CS, for the past 10 Years if you dont know.. thats why this game has been played in all past WCG and continued till this day? Hmm, Where did I say about money? though Im agree with the statement "its all about money".. why do you think fnatic boycotting the WCG? its all about sponsorship once again... [they cant wear their org/sponsors shirt at the tournament, they're disapponted with their local WCG host because they're spending less money than before.. is that right?] why do you think there's been many issues from time to time about "nordic qualifier - denmark qualifier" or even some issues in another competition like ESWC qualifier, etc? "Im also talking about retarded rules and especially admins who have no idea whatsoever about CS." Geez, That's what i've try to explaining to the guys above, that everyone is blaming the wrong organisation. The Main WCG org has nothing to do with your local qualifier issues. The Retarded Guys = Your Local WCG Host Your Local WCG HOST =/= Main WCG ORG Main WCG ORG, is like a franchise company which they sell the license to host an event with WCG brand. And everyone even with the retarded brain can also buy the license.. and thats the root of many problems which happened lately.

cuz this deal has only been made this year and that's not ridiculous, wCrea is a small orga, the team knew it before joining them and the fact that wCrea's sponsor drops the organisation because of WCG.dk's deal makes wCrea unable to help the team travelling to China, that's a silly situation but sounds logicial to me

What eSport game is bigger in Europa than 1.6, what do u think off when u say bigger? The problem for Ravens is the stability problem on the scene, it is totally unreliable.

Wcg organization made a contract with a local danish tv channel, so the danes had to go to wcg under the name TEAM DANEMARK 1 for wCREA and TEAM DANEMARK 2 for mTw wCREA offered to the wcg organization that they pay the trip themself so they can put up wCREA as name, wcg declined, so, the sponsor of wCREA, "eurobetpoker" broke his contract with the organization, and the players had a fight with the organization.

ALSO warzon ended up insulting some guy in charge of marketing ! Besides it's not like Wcrea refused to pay , they offered to pay all the expense if the organiser agreed to let them play under the tag Wcrea , but the organizers refused , and since they have to wear those crappy shirt with WCG sponsors, the only way to promote their own sponsors is their tag, so it's perfectly understandable, you won't pay for " team denmark " , you'd pay for your team with your tag and your sponsors, make sense

wCrea states that the reason for the breakup is based on the fact that the team would not be representing the organisation at the WCG 2010, but instead Team Denmark. What a lame thing :S.

Well summarized. Even if it's not completely wCrea's fault, it shows wCrea isn't a strong organization. Great organizations don't rely on one single temporary sponsor. wCrea needs to establish stronger relationships with its sponsors so that it won't happen again...

WCG needs to monitor and control the qualifiers. By allowing other organizations run the tournament there is very little uniformity and control by the WCG.

Yeah, thats probably the only way to solve this matter... Unfortunately this means spending more money for Samsung and also Im afraid there will be less national WCG qualifier around the world if the rules set by the WCG is too strict to handle by the local sponsors..

Well, honestly speaking I do not quite understand why a clan (or more than one if just like in this case as there are two slots) is considered the 'Danish national eSport team'. The only competitions I, from my point of view, understand as nations competitions are ENC and CB Nationcup. The 'Danish national eSport team' idea applied to WCG collides with the fact that teams attend their qualifier as a clan under the sponsorship of not necessarily a Danish organization, which still would not ensure lack of damage in terms of sponsorship of that given Danish organization despite sharing the 'national feeling/duty' of supporting Danish eSports. If they want a national team, in order to avoid problems they should gather/select the players instead of keep playing this qualifier format, honestly which is, by the way, how it works in the examples eSport Danmark refers to (football, basketball). If they want to compare things, at least they should on the same level of things.

the only people who seem to understand the situaton is the americans in here.... don't blame the WCG org, danes buy the rights to the local WCG qualifier and set their own rules (as someone said they have a TV deal setup or something). It's the owners of the danish WCG rights who made this ridiculous rule, not the owners of the WCG grand finals. Im not disputing that WCG finals are a bit retarded too, but this one has nothing to do with them. And i'm also very surprised that nobody has thought to ask if mTw will be attending as Team Denmark or under their clan tag... anyone know?

All teams will be representing Denmark under the Team Denmark name. My personal opinion is that the rule about team names and tshirts are perfectly understandable. eSport Denmark/eSport Open/Dansk Metal are paying for everything, so should'nt they recieve credit for that? And while the mTw sponsors may not be exposed in the tournament area, can they still expose them outside of said area. Furthermore are there still lots of player exposure, so that Zonic, Arcadion etc all get their personal brand as a player improved. I honestly don't see the problem in it. :) Edit: Oh and I think you should give my eSport Denmark link a look. Clarifies a lot.

I dont know who fault its is but. Saying that wCre name must not be represented and then ask the org pay extra for coach is BS. You just can't expect them to do this. Not at very prof way to go, but a very amature like way.
