POV beat WinOut after illegal defuse

POV.wp managed to move past WinOut at the WCG qualifiers after the match went into overtime following an illegal defuse.

WinOut had originally won the match 16-14, but upon reviewing the demo, the tournament admins found out that Ron "Rambo" Kim had performed an illegal action in the first round of the second half, when he defused the bomb through the box.

It was decided that only that round would be overturned, as POV.wp managed to win the second round, making it a 15-15 overall score that forced both teams to play overtime.

In OT, POV.wp came out very strongly and completely shattered WinOut's hopes, picking up four rounds in a row to make it a 19-15 victory.

This means that POV.wp will play against Backfire tomorrow for a chance in the Grand Final, where Evil Geniuses are lying in wait.

i hate these defuse rules, its as dumb as saying you can't shoot at a guy that you cant see yet. if people want to cry about defusing through walls they could always learn to plant the bomb so it cant be defused through a wall... much like people have learned to not stand in common spam spots, it's just strategy and it should all be allowed.

You can't really use the glitch argument (or a realistic approach). What matters is what works within the game and I personally think this rule is ridiculous. Whenever a bomb is getting defused through the wall it is because of a poor plant and in my opinion the CT's should be allowed to take advantage of that. I haven't seen the game (or a demo) but as far as I can tell (from the video @ WinOut.net) it got planted on the top of the box, so they could see the defuser from the plateau on long. That is generally a really good position if you have an AWP on long A, but obviously not in a pistolround. That makes me think that they did it to take advantage of the rules, but lets see if any interviews come up.

Fair play? It seems to me like POV planted the bomb there to take advantage of the rules, but sure - lets talk about fair play :D Of course people have to follow the rules, but just as the russian walking/crouch walking was a stupid rule (even though it is considered to be an exploit/bug), I consider this rule to be ridiculous. You are free to feel otherwise :)

how can you defuse a bomb without being able to see it? how can you believe defusing a bomb without your body being visible to the planting team is legal? You cant, and you can't. Unless there we're no terrorist's alive during the defuse, u should never use a "wall" object to hide your hitboxes while defusing a bomb.

OK FINE JOIN THE ARMY, GO TO AFGHANISTAN, there you'll see some fucking realism, i know someone who's been there and i can tell you don't wanna go there ( the guy was supposed to be in one of the vehicle of the convoy but at the last minute there was a change and he went to another vehicle, the vehicle he was supposed to take blew up on an ied ) This was meant to be a game, the reason it's a sport is it's competitive, is probably one of the best if not the best game in the world in terms of gameplay ( If you want good graphism go play crysis or cod6, but in terms of what you actually do by playing such games, it's more interesting to watch a movie on your sofa because when you're on your sofa and you're thirsty you'll have to go take a glass which will require much more brain than it would take you to kill someone on cod6 ) Russian walk is a glitch too technically, the reason it was allowed is it's a very usefull tool for professionnals ( if you don't like it then go play source , it's easier because you almost can't wallshot too, that's also why it's way less interesting to play source ) By the way we all know wcg is a fail, they can apply their logic when it's about games like halo or something , games in which there is no glitch and it's 10 times less interesting but so far nor wcg nor any game developer has understood cs and why it's so popular Defusing throught wall is a TOOL, like shooting someone throught the wall or like russian walking, that's just how it works ( like this trick on starcraft & starcraft BW which consist in gathering many air unit at the exact same spot by clicking many times so that it looks like you only have one unit ) Now it's a wcg rule, even if it's a retarded rule it's a rule but it is one thing to play by the rule and to take advantage of it like this, clearly rambo did not respect the rule, but planting the bomb like this, knowing the rule is being a douche, as spectators we're not supposed to be trolling about whether it's realist or not , or what it should be , a rematch or round or whatever , it's other people's duty to apply the rules and we as spectators can comment and say this rule sucks & WCGs admins who made this rule are shitheads The last word i will say about this is rambo is an excellent old school player and hero's just not fair play hope you've read the best part of it ( congratz if you've read the whole thing WHILE NOT BEING A TROLL )

Sad to hear, I think WinOut really deserved the victory. I remember when I talked to LeX about this when there was a similar incident between EG and WMF, he - just like me - thought that it was pretty silly that you should get punished for such a defuse. Oh well, we can just hope that rule will get removed just like the duckjump rule once was.

if someone tries to defuse through a box the box and walls should get transparent so that the terrorist has the option to see where he is and haxx him if he likes. And ofcourse when the defuser stops defusing the transparent walls goes away. That would make the defuser think twice before defusing through a box. And it would eliminate giving away rounds for free. Probably pretty stupid aswell but hey i have nothing to do atm. ^^ But i guess this is just dreaming from me ^^

it's simply ridiculous. only by planting the bomb the way they did (close to a wall) they enabled it to be defused through the wall. this means, they either wanted to: -) get an andvantage out of having the bomb planted close to a wall (like cover, or a bad position for the defusing ct) -) provoke a wall-defuse so i wouldn't say it's only WinOut's fault. they're both responsible for this. if the rule is that important to them, they should've let the round be replayed. in that way they would've given WinOut at least the chance to avoid overtime. this half-assed way of deciding is unfair imo...

This rule is absolutely moronic. The fact that so many people are coming to defend it shows me how totally biased the public opinion is here. The bomb can be defused from an exact radius, no matter what objects are in the way. This is HOW THE GAME WORKS, AND EVERYONE HAS KNOWN THAT FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. ANY pro player understands the defuse radius when they go to plant the bomb, and if they plant too close to the corner of the box, they KNOW that it can be defused around the corner. This rule should ONLY apply on de_nuke, defusing through the floor from lower, because it is clearly exploitative. If you don't agree, go try to get Valve to make defusing require line of sight to the C4 model, it would take 2 lines of code to implement. Until then, play by the rules of the actual game! This rule implementation is flat out BAD, and clearly wasn't well thought out AT ALL. If Rambo knew the specifics of the rule, why would he defuse anyway? He must have thought it only applied to *actual* exploitative defusing (de_nuke) otherwise why would he do it? I'm still just baffled that anyone could agree with such a badly implemented rule. It reeks of ignorance and naivety.
