MECTb drop out of IEM qualification

MECTb have announced they have purposely bowed out of the European qualifying system.

The Russian mix, which featured the likes of Boris "Snoop" Podvalshikov and Vladimir "redman" Tarasov, managed an impressive second-placed finish at the local IEM qualifier at the weekend, beating forZe 2-0 in the process.

Such result put MECTb in the European Qualifying Round 2, but they have now surprisingly passed up the opportunity.

"Two of us cannot play the qualifiers and the main group stage, and we had no good players to play with us," Nicholas "mNR" Kirpichev told HLTV.org.

MECTb's spot will now go to forZe, who will have to play the European Qualifying Round 1 as Iron Will, who finished the tournament in third place, have been moved from round 1 to 2.

This means that the following Russian teams will remain in contention:

Meet Your Makers - European Championship
Iron Will - Qualifying Round 2
forZe - Qualifying Round 1
