The Elder Gods have announced they will close their doors after the end of PGL 26.

Mircea "PeRRy" Predut, founding member of TeG, cites the lack of conditions in Romania for esports players as the reason behind this decision.

"After this season we will close everything. The name will die along with us. We don't want to leave the name to anyone else as its reputation has already suffered a lot in the past. It's not worth playing at a professional level in Romania," Predut is quoted by mymym.com as saying.

TeG were last seen at the Samsung European Championship, failing to go beyond the opening round as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to mTw.

With TeG failing to qualify for this year's WCG finals, it seems the lack of international action has taken its toll on their plans for the future.

Reports from Romania suggest that all of the players will hang up their mice after PGL season 26, which comes to an end tonight.

The Elder Gods had the following roster:

do you wanna hear my opinion SeDaN is a munter.. He is shit at cs.. Everyone thinks he's good but he's really not. he's an alright player but people make him something that he will never be like people comparing him to walle or markeloff... Romania's counterstrike teams have no future in WCg or any other esport competition

recently fx [or maybe some players from fx team] accused Teg team to schedule a match on exact dates when Fx players seemed unavailable. So Fx were disqualified and Teg proceeded further in the tournament. Sad i dont know the tournament's name !

Hey:D polish guy, PGL (profesional gamers league) , the pro league from romania is the most honorable partener of WCG . The WCG and PGL are partners from 2002 when Romanian's got pro.

Ok. 3-5 years ago there were i'd say atleast 10 teams that could be called world class teams ... SK, NiP, fnatic, PGS, mouz, Alternate-Attax, coL, 3D, Lunatic-Hai, finnish teams, 4Kings, norwegian teams, brazilian teams. I watched CPL Winter 05, ESWC 2006, WCG 2006 ... Particularly these three events smash any tournament that happens today, on any aspect. What i see today is fnatic, SK, navi, mtw and FX going to some tournaments that can't be compared to the hugeness of the tournaments 3-5 years ago. It's fair if you say that the quality of the teams is better today and that there are still plenty of them but competitive CS is light years away of what once was, anyone who has been around for more than 4 years know this.

You are completely right even though at that stage in 2006 when CS was getting even more and more competitve hardly no one watched the matches or the stream... I mean sponsors put a lot of work to create those matches and WCG never failed to impress me. Futhermore i think regardless to what happened 5 years ago Na'Vi have started playing the kind of CS that NiP and 3D were playing at the early stages of counter-strike

Not having many spectators is one thing, not broadcasting the matches in a better way is another thing ... Maybe today broadcasting methods are way better than before with all the streams, hltvs and other fancy ways of covering an event but if you were around back in 2004/2005 and you were to get in an hltv of a CPL final game, for example, you would probably see a big 5 digit number of spectators ... that just doesnt happen today. Doesn't mean CS isn't going good, but it isn't taking the path we all wanted and probably expected when we were in 2004/2005.

Many great players played under this TaG, Perry surely being one of the best ever Romanian players. Also a very nice guy. Wish all of you all the best irl!

I see alot of hater here, lemme ask u somethin`, how many of u had a 9 year career in gaming and traveled trough the world with friends payment free ? This is a very sad moment in Romanian gaming scene, I think this is an non rational decision from PeRRy, to close the doors of the best team in Romanian scene, a team that made gaming at a professional level possible for us. Maybe the last moments where really dark for them, but they should be respected for all the performances and all the hard work... I wish this would be a rumor, but anyway wish them all the best in life... And about the pro gaming scene in Romania, PeRRy is right about it, how is that in Romania there is no organization to aid this, and how is that TeG, who are representing Romanian scene for at least 9 years didn't had any offer of playing in an organization and no sponsors then Razer to supply them and pay the trips. Gaming scene in Romania is just at it's birth, but with this team falling, I don't know what will be up to it...

If you are doing good and showing good results the sponsors and the goodconditions will come to you... how can they be good if there is only 1 national tournament with 1 match everyweek (against mid teans ) and only 1 internationl tournament per year? There is no motivation and they can't become better if they don't play more often the proteams such as fnatic sk etc.

Don't tell me man, there are so many ways of getting better as team, there are tons of IRC channels full of teams that are ready to practice clan wars, there are tons of online tourneys, for example the same ClanBase, where you face a lot of high-skilled teams, the same WESGG, I think that pings from RO to UA won't be so high. Even Romania got enough good teams that can challenge each other and progress one by one... (Eq, maniaX, neXtplease etc.). Come on, you just need that wish and enough time to get on the top...

bah..you totally missed the point... I wanted to say that the scenes in some countries like UK is enough to support organizations like Dignitas which are pretty good financially even though that team has done nothing significant internationally. Now when you compare TeG to teams like these you find they have achieved much more and still have to work so hard to make a trip possible (which most of the time doesn't work out anyway) Thats what I meant by 'depends on country'...

The lineup posted is not actually the oldest one. The lineup posted is the one that took 4th place at WCG 2003, after TeG picked up 4 guys from team viper (a team that gave them a run for their money) PeRRy being the 5th player. But if you look perry, taofik (creature then) and darky (darkghost then) have been playing since 2002-2003 in the same team (more or less - taofik played in other teams since then). I only remember one other guy from the original: Over. Maybe other guys can help me out here.
