Lions & EG through to playoffs

Lions and Evil Geniuses have both survived the so-called group of death at WCG 2010 in Los Angeles.

After winning their first two matches, Lions were in a better position than the rest of the teams of their group, and could even afford to lose their final match if not by a big margin.

In the final match, Lions could not fend off the threat of FACE2FACE, and lost to the French team 18-12 after being up 10-5 at the break. The other match pitted Evil Geniuses against Immunity, and the American side eased past their opposition with a score of 22-8.

These results caused a three-way tie in the group, with EG coming out on top due to a better round difference (+2) between the tied teams, followed by Lions (+0) and then FACE2FACE (-2), which throws the Frenchmen out of the tournament.

imo EG was the best team in this group, they're about to become a great team with dboorN however F2F deserve to pass that's a shame..

I disagree, for me the best two teams achieved the top spots in the group, however I respect others oppinions, I think general oppinion is the same as mine.

f2f started the maps on the bad side cause of loosing knife round...really no luck they would have raped lions and pass with the goal average. but i think they will come back stronger ,they can beat the best teams with a better mental.

For a team without in-game leader (lurppis calling strats during freeze time hardly counts), EG did very well in the so-called group of death.

they will always do well...they are a team full of tremendous talent, they are only looked down on bc they are from America and our CS scene has been pretty shitty for the last few years...pretty soon its gonna be 2005 all over again and EG is gonna turn heads just like the core of the team did when they played for coL...say what u want, but its gonna happen.

According to wcg rules for cs 1.6: "In the case of 2 teams having the same number of points, the following rules will be applied in order listed: 1) Head To Head (The winner of the match between the two players advances) 2) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches 3) Rematch (The map will be drawn.)"

EG always get placed in the group of death yet they alway get's thru so this doesn't surprise me a bit. you guys dont remember arbalet cup when they were grouped with fnatic and mousesport, they beat fnatic in group stage to come out on top of the group and send mouz home early.
