DSRack to have just €7,000?

DSRack, one of the biggest LAN events of the last quarter of 2010, could be forced to substantially lower its prize purse, HLTV.org has learned.

The Danish LAN event, which will take place from 18-24 October in Copenhagen, was initially announced as a €20,000 competition, hoping that it would attract some big guns from across the globe.

However, such figure was always dependent on the number of teams who signed up for the event, and the organisation has made no secret that it can make cuts to the prize purse in the event of meager interest from players.

As such, the prize purse could drop to as little as €7.000 if no more than 24 teams signed up for the competition, and as registration deadline was met on Wednesday, only 25 sides were registered, with only 10 of them having already completed payment procedures.

The DSRack chiefs have not yet announced the prizes they will be handing out, but by the looks of it, the tournament will most likely have a much lower prize purse than initially advertised.

because organizations that organizate such events should have stable sponsor and a stable amount of money that shouldnt have to do something with the payment and signups of the teams

At least there paying the pricemoney. Rather then some other untold events that prefer to say nothing at all an let people wait endless ammount before handing out the pricemoney. I want to see an Event where they hand out the pricemoney cash in a Case.

He didn't say first event, but first event with cs... And DSRack does have an excellent manager, so there's probaly tons of related stuff you have no clue about that makes it impossible not to have huge prize money.

Everyone should support anyone who wants to stand up and make a good event out of nowhere. The lack of professionalism comes from teams that confirmed attendance and then pulled out. Not from DSRack. Still i hope its gonna be a great event.

why is it a fail pita? I have been trying to get every team to pay in time, even those teams who confirmed their attendance - you know that i've msged you too. Its not a failure by DSRack, personally, i've done EVERYTHING possible to get all the best teams coming. Most of the teams who confirmed their attendance at first, stepped back. How can that be DSRack's fault for lacking professionalism at the teams managements? Just to start off we can take an organisation like Lions , MYM or Fx who at first confirmed their attendance on behalf of the team - but then saying they wont attend cause they wont pay (Lions) since they got free entrance to KGC. Its a joke by the organisations, we have had every good point of getting all the good teams, getting ALOT of teams, but in the end it wasnt enough so.

How is it a fail, 3 days from the event only 10 out of 25 teams have payed whatever they are supposed to pay.. And the Dsrack organizers expected 60+ teams and got less then half of the number they expected. So yeah, the cut is not that big of a surprise, but at the end, it should be like 10k, just to be fair to other teams that are more professional, and take every single event seriously.

Why is it DSRacks fault that the teams isn't attending the event? They announced from the beginning how the prizes would look with 24, 32, 48 and 64 teams.

It is not a failure by DSRack - its a failure by ALOT of the organisations out there who at first CONFIRMED there attendance - not to mention names but there have been alot of teams (which u can see in the previous news) which stepped back. I hope ppl will be fast and sign up today so we can get a sick prizepott.

Too bad that they did not get a full house. SLAP and DSRack should have coordinated their events, so one ticket to either event gave a 50% discount to the other - if possible. Would have granted a much larger audience given that KGC/SLAP is sold out as rumors appear. I really look forward to seeing DSRack pull of the biggest CSS event of the year though and probably SC2 as well. Way to go qdk and co.
