OSLF.dk to miss KODE5 finals?

OSLF.dk player Tomas "xlo" Falden has told HLTV.org that his team will most likely miss out on the KODE5 Global Finals due to lack of support.

The Danish team secured a spot at the event in Peru after winning the German regional qualifier, beating Alternate 2-0 in the final.

According to Falden, his team had been assured by the tournament organizers that KODE5 would pay for their trip to Peru, but he and his team-mates have now been told a different story.

"After the tournament. we told the admins: 'we will talk about you paying the tickets and hotel later, since there is still quite a while to the finals', and they said yes," Falden told HLTV.org.

"[Last week], I contacted the German KODE5 admins asking how it would work out with them paying for our trip, and they told us they had not said they would pay and that KODE5 has not been helping with the teams' expenses for many years.

"The reason we did not contact them until now was that we were certain they would pay, we would have looked for support a long time ago, had we known they would not pay. It makes no sense to try to find support two weeks before the actual LAN."

It is still unknown whether this situation will force more teams to cancel their participation at the event, which will take place from 3-5 December.

The Danish team can be contacted at [email protected] or on their official website.

OSLF.dk consist of the following:

Denmark Danny "BERRY" Krüger
Denmark Jesper "luffeB" Andersen
Denmark Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer
Denmark Michael "Friis" Jørgensen
Denmark Tomas "xlo" Falden

hmm sad though.

Reaching the Finals will end up like a quest for finding El Dorado for some teams, apparently.

So lets see how many European teams can field what will likely be 5000-7000€ to attend an event which isn't the best at paying out their prize money as far as I have heard.. Like I said, a joke.

dude, teams like mTw could assist.. They have a lotta chances to win the event so, I think the money in that case would be not problem. If they use approx 5k€ to travel/stay and win 25kusd its superavit

xfedeargx, im sure you´re very 'premature' at the argentinean counter-strike scene.. In 2006, the CPL organisation decide to ejecute two (2) World Tour Stop in Brazil & Chile.. In Chile, the only know team was Catch-Gamer (bsl, naikon, day, and 2 more i don't remember atm) and was defeated by argentinean team FA. By the otherside, in Brazil we had a three professional teams.. SSV Lehnitz: MegatoN, Magix`, solido, zet y diGital united5: cuz, batman, keen, and 2 more mibr: pava cogu kiko pred ¿eduzin? And the prizes was kinda 5kUSD

KODE5 world finals in Peru, with qualifyers that doesn't cover the travel and living expenses. LOL no offence to the South Americans or their cs-scene, but this is as Nomad already stated A F****** JOKE! If you're having a competition that is supposed to get the top layer of teams around the world there are a few things you've got to do. 1. Get a big prize purse. 2. Get a good organization around the tournament (admins, network techies etc., good pcs, good gaming areas, strategical seating of the teams etc. etc.) 3. Make the event easy to access (place it close to the teams you want to attract or pay the expenses for the qualified and invited teams) If you fail at one of there three you're failing the event in the end.

alright, that's wrong.. wild ineters, the argentinean team won the kode5 latin american draft to qualify global finals. before that they played the kode5 argentina qualifier.. well, both competitions give them a travel/stay for qualified competences.

It doesnt make any sense having a qualifier in Germany for an event which will be held in Peru and not pay the trips for the winners. If they dont pay their trips, i really hope people will just forget KODE5 and let them die alone.

And the German even said directly to us that we would talk about payment and stuff later, because there was a long time to the event.
