Na´Vi scored $220,000 in 2010

Unquestionably the team of 2010, Natus Vincere have broken fnatic's winnings record from 2009, winning a total of $221,550.

The last big tournament of 2010 ended this past weekend, when Natus Vincere won the Grand Final at DreamHack Winter against mTw. With the victory the Ukrainian squad surpassed the $200,000 mark and broke the record set by fnatic in 2009, where the Swedes scored a total of $189,000.

Below is the list of events attended, where Na´Vi managed to win money, a total breakdown displaying how much money the Ukrainians won during the months of 2010.

Rank Tournament Date Location Winnings
1. Sweden DreamHack Winter 25-27 November Jönköping, Sweden $28,200*
4. China World e-Sports Masters 3-7 November Hangzhou, China $7,500
1. United States World Cyber Games 1-4 October Los Angeles, USA $25,000
3. Ukraine ASUS Summer 28-29 August Kiev, Ukraine $3,000
3. China IEM5 GC Shanghai 29 July-1 August Shanghai, China $5,000
3. Spain GameGune 16-18 July Bilbao, Spain $4,000
1. United States Arbalet Cup Dallas 22-24 July Dallas, USA $25,000
1. France ESWC 30 June-4 July Paris, France $36,000
1. Ukraine CGL Ukraine Season 5 & 6 12 June Kiev, Ukraine $1,800
2. Sweden Arbalet Cup Europe 14-16 May Stockholm, Sweden $10,000
1. Ukraine Arbalet Cup Best of Four 9-11 April Kiev, Ukraine $12,000
1. Ukraine Arbalet Cup Ukraine 3 April Kiev, Ukraine $3,000
1. Germany IEM4 World Championship 2-6 March Hannover, Germany $50,000
1. Kazakhstan Arbalet Cup Asia 30-31 January Almaty, Kazakhstan $10,000
5. Germany IEM4 EU Championship 14-17 January Cologne, Germany $1,250

      Total $221,750

* including a KVD gift card worth $14,100

Na´Vi also secured $2,500 by winning their five group stage matches in the European Championship for IEM5, as well as $750 to qualifuying to the finals. Three Na´Vi members also earned money outside of Na´Vi, such as representing the Ukrainian ENC squad and all-star teams during Arbalet Cup Asia.

Below is a breakdown of how much the individual members in Na´Vi won during 2010.

Winnings with Na´Vi
Other winnings Total
Ukraine Arseny "esenin" Trynozhenko $45,000 $0 $45,000
Ukraine Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko $45,000 $0 $45,000
Ukraine Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev $45,000 $989 $45,989
Ukraine Sergey "starix" Ischuk $45,000 $1,289 $46,289
Ukraine Yegor "markeloff" Markelov $45,000 $989 $45,989

Aleksandr "ZeroGravity" Kohanovskiy has informed HLTV.org that the team still has unpaid prize money from IEM4 EU Finals, IEM4 World Championship, IEM5 GC Shanghai, WEM, WCG and GamGune as well as the recent victory at DreamHack Winter. HLTV.org also know that the Ukrainians will have to pay taxes of some of their winnings, as some event organizers are inforced to do so by the law which applies in the country the company is registred.

The biggest cheque of 2010, still unpaid

Regardless of unpaid prizes and having to pay taxes of their winnings, the Ukrainians have set a new record in terms of winnings as a Counter-Strike team. With Murat "Arbalet" Zhumashevich not hosting more tournaments, it seems doubtful that any team could break this record in 2011.

45k a year is a good starting salary out of college, but with any kind of college degree people would expect to make quite a bit more than that. it really depends where in the US you live as well, in the big cities with a lot of people like NY and LA people make much more than in the midwest and stuff.

45000$ a year = 3750$ a month. Are u kidding me? in US it's a "starting salary out of college"? Oh yeah, just remembered you guys don't have taxes to pay on that. We have like 40-45% cut from this to social taxes (the thing Obama wants to set up).

45k a year is very good out of college, and im talking about before taxes. Taxes arent quite that high here, but they still take a sizeable chunk out for sure. not to mention the economy isn't great here so a job right out of college definitely isn't a guaranteed thing.

Yeah 45.000 a year is great money especially for playing a video game and not working full time, HOWEVER they dont see all of that money I bet they only have about 20.000 - 25.000 that they can actually touch the rest they will be fighting for months or years to recieve and then have to pay crazy high taxes, especially on those DH checks because Sweden is crazy with taxes. When it comes down to it its not a whole lot of money and I would much rather do something I hated and actually make a good living than play video games and live in a shitty apartment.

That's a perfect example of fanboy-ism. Guy from Ukraine who 'loves' his national team, says it's the best team ever. No, wait. He SHOUTS it's the best team ever and uses exclamation mark 4 times. Dude, they came up in 2010, they are like mtw when they were winning everything in 2008 or fnatic in 2009.

out of everyone, we have a pole talking about 'fanboyism'... Enough said. I don't see anything wrong with someone liking their national team. Aren't we here because we are fans of the game and a certain team? No need to pick on people who are only supporting a team/ the community.

actually ....the last time 1 team won so many tournaments in 1 year was sk ... as far as prestige goes ....navi has one the biggest tournaments of this year ....if they would of one gamegune , iem eu and wem they would deffinetly would of been considered the greatest team of all time . but still ..at the moment they are the best ream in the world ... and one of the best teams of all time.

IT wont be possible anymore, they just had that chance because of all the extra tournaments which "arblet" came with. And cs is not getting that much attention as sc2 from the sponsors and the tournament orgas. Which make cs will go lower and lower in prize money.

wouldn't be surprissed if it'll be a year between mTw and Na-Vi i think mTw look really strong with Arcadion and with the insane ours of pracc. Na-Vi have they will keep their lvl i'm sure. Fnatic don't think will have a good year, i think some of them will retire (based on nothing just a feeling) and maybe SK will be able to do some serious damage should they get Delpan and modii in as regular members.

So basically everyone that plays counter-strike don't have friends and normal lives? Pathetic logic. Why do you think your life is better than their? I bet they have awesome life, having so much to travel and so many fans, must be an exciting life I must say. They do what they enjoy and that is the main key of normal life.

Average salary in Sweden is 27 900 SEK afaik, which is about 4000$. Most suceccful Na'Vi player (in terms of prise money) got 46,249/12 = 3840$. So his income ( not including his salary) is lower than Swedish average (yours). Also don't forget the unpaid prizes.

Being in the ultimate top, by winning most of the tournaments the e-sport scene has to offer, is the only thing that makes playing e-sports professionally reasonable. But If you win like 100k a year, It is getting pointless, because you can earn more money by doing normal job.

yeah already knew but that's f*ucking impressive, lot of money for CS. especially considering they are Ukrainians... I remember markeloff explaining after their IEM4 victory that $50,000 were like a year salary for a surgeon in Ukraine, or something like that.

bad argument imo. they were just the lvl above due to much harder practice just like Na-Vi has been this year, i meen the only teams who have really been able to touch Na-Vi a bit over a longer time has been mTw and Fnatic. So basically it's the same situation now as back then. If you're able to follow me.

but those all seem more like fluckes (how do you spell it?) imo it seems like only Fnatic and mTw have been able to give Na-Vi a frequent fight throughout the year.

I´m not deying that mtw has given fight against Na´vi. Ofcourse they have, but unfortunately they have lost every game. With some hard practise and now Arcadion as the IGL i think 2011 can be very well mtw´s year. Atleast chances na´vi to accomplish what they did this year is i´d say 1 to 1000. As for Fnatic i think they just should practise more and come up with better stats. SK´s only chance is to replace allen&walle. RobbaN is the IGL and he frags more than allen or walle. Delpan is a must at this point. Ofcourse that´s just my opinion ;-)

i agree with you, on every lvl the chance for mTw to dominate next year is good, but to reach Na-Vi's lvl and achievements this year is almost impossible, both for the obvious reasons with the fact of Arbalet Cups ending and the CIS tournaments they can't attend and the fact tha Na-Vi as i believe is the first team ever to win the three majors (WCG, ESWC and IEM Global Finals) and yeah Fnatics playstyle i think has become too known fron '09 and as SK goes they need some change for sure.

The SK from 2003 would be just as good as NaVi are now, back then there was even more teams ie; Team3D, team9, aAa, Mousesports, aTTaX, mibr, and a bunch other that were able to compete with them now all you have is SK/fnatic/mTw/NaVi with all other teams on a different level, so believe me back then SK had it much harder to achieve undisputed best team for 2 years in a row

FNATIC will raise when they understand to kick f0rest and GuX (they are too lowskilled for nowadays cs level) and take in walle and allen. then FNATIC will dominate again :)

carn is in-game leader who never make mistakes in tactics, dsn is best AWPer in the world and GET_right is best player in sweden, their 1st fragger and always saving games for them. f0rest and GuX just are always at the end of scoreboard and loosing all important and easy duels and their skills are not even close to rest of fnatic guys. they need to be removed that fnatic can shine again.. walle and allen are best swedish players after carn, dsn and gtr, so they are best options for fnatic.. cant say this more clearly..

Not! Walle sucks (although he was good at DreamHack) and allen is quite good yes, but not as good as Gux and f0rest. I think best swedish player is Get_right (AFAIK he has the best K/D ratio of all pro players?), and other top ones are Xizt, moddii, face, RobbaN, f0rest, Gux and manne and not allen and walle!

"they need to be removed that fnatic can shine again"... to shine again? you mean like in 2009?? mmm if im not mistaken f0rest and gux were on the team that year and walle-allen were on sk losing againts mid-level teams (pugs actually)

Congrats to Na'vi. Edward,Zues, and Mikeloff really deserve it this year. You would never see Na'vi out of top 3 this year. Seems like they won almost every event....Congrats!

crazy fanboys everywhere, rofl.hope they still use navi name next year.Sponsors're losing money to support big events,E-sport is not that easy.Think longer than just a year plz, people dont have brain to think that way. PS:gj navi(seems former VP to me),plz dont change ur lineup,we already lose wNv,dont want to lose another clan. Fnatic is still the best,I dont think 1 tournament gonna change anything. They are not playing as nice as the beginning of this year, but they are still leading when they play Na'vi.I think navi is catching up. hope to see some new face clans nextyear,

1 tournament ? Haven't Na`Vi bested Fnatic at majority of the major tournaments throughout the year ? I think even Fnatic can admit that.

wrong logic. can we use 13 matches to decide which team is the best when every team had like 100 matches or more? you still think fnatic is better than navi in 2010? only saw Chinese fnatic fanboy using this theory. bet you are one of them

I never, ever said overall, I simply said that in the major tournaments, Na`Vi have come out on top more often than Fnatic. I'm not saying they're better because of this.

Congratulations, Na'Vi! This is a great achievement. However, Na'Vi is Not the best clan of all time as some said above, that status is reserved for -03 SK without a doubt.

Na'vi for sure isnt best clan ever yet.. but SK 03? look how many countries attended events, USA, Scandynavia and sometimes Russia and China thats all :D Level of competition was poor also. Imo best clan of all time is Fnatic on the top since 5 years, second place for PGS the same story but less wins, on the other hand they are 4x times world champions (WCG, ESWC 2x) but still Fnatic should be number one.

Fnatic can't won WCG 100500 years of their career. What u said about they are top1? But Na`Vi won 3 best titules of year, its record. And they beat fnatic's record in one year. So u just don't want belive it. Sorry for my bad eng.

Na'vi is on top since January.. Fnatic is on top since years then how can be Na'vi the best team of all times its too early, if they stay on top I'll say they did first step to be the greatest team in history

Fnatic actually did better last year. Fnatic won about 182k$ last year. Na´vi won 220k$ this year. If we count down Arbalet cups - that didn´´t exist in 2009 then Na´vi would have won total of $160k ;)

So much time spent in front of pc and 45k become "only" 45k.. because how many hours they spend playing this game and its nothing.. really.. Football players dont practice that much and still have millions.. I hope that computer gaming will be accepted as some sport, cause this is their life..

that depends i'd say, not many footbal players practice like 10 hours a day, unless i'm completely off and i might be, i'm not that in to football, i just understood it as a football player practice like a full working day.

To everyone who is arguing with the fact that their "income" is less than or perhaps (depending on the country) the same as an average working adult by shouting that they're "doing what they love," do you mean to say that most of the working class population world-wide is not doing something they enjoy? Is an artist upset that he has to paint for a living, or a soccer player mad that he has to kick a ball for a salary? Please; Na`Vi did well, and they are very good players both individually and as a team, but they are part of the very, VERY small percentage of gamers that make a DECENT living from their winnings, and there are (as many have said before me) many other teams that are on the same level as Na`Vi at the moment, and I think we all know how quick esports can change in terms of global ranking.

I dont think Na'vi is as dominate as SK2003 that team,I mean Na vi is really strong right now,but their game style is really really boring,a lot of rounds they will save up even they have money advance,2003 SK swap every single event, also their gamestyle is a lot of faster(saving back then is better than planing bomb right now, money wise).Sure,2003's CS level and game understanding is not as mature as right now,but from fan's point of view,na'vi's demo is not interesting to watch. It's like soccor,I like Holland and Brazil's style more than france's style. well, winning >all to them, But slow tact to me is boring.

I don't think enyone here cares about the way you want to live. There feels only envy in your article. 25k is still good money even for european standard. And i think you lie that prefer to do job u hate. I don't think enyone prefers to do damn job rather than get 25k a year. I don't know what your sources are but as i know NaVi live in very very nice flats down it town centre
