USSR pick up OverDrive
USSR have formally announced their roster for 2011 with the arrival of Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov.
The Russian player had been linked with moving to USSR after playing for the team in Sunday's Intel Challenge Super Cup 7 defeat at the hands of Copenhagen Wolves.
He joins the team less than two months after stepping down as player at forZe, replacing Aleksey "kioken" Lagutin.
The move comes as a surprise, as USSR came out on top of the New Year's Show tournament only two weeks ago.
"OverDrive will provide us with LAN center [training conditions] and probably paid trips to tournaments," Roman "h4cker" Abramov told HLTV.org.
"We did not have five players who were very good, and OverDrive offered himself."
USSR are currently in eighth place in the ICSC 7, with one victory and one defeat. Birukov's addition leaves the team as:
Sergey "hally" Shawano
Nicholas "mNR" Kirpichev
Roman "h4cker" Abramov
Vadim "micE" Zimin
Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov
Sergey "hally" Shawano
