4Kings LAN with Portugal qualifier

The organisation behind 4Kings LAN 2011 has announced that Portugal will stage a qualifier for the competition.

The tournament will take place at the CJM LAN House in Matosinhos from 26-27 February, with the winner from this 16-team competition rewarded with paid expenses to the final in London.

Organized by EPTournament, there will also be a €200 prize for the runner-up of the qualifier, which will have a €75 entry fee per team.

k1ck have already signed up for the final event, but they may still attend the qualifier in order to save up some money.

4Kings LAN 2011 is scheduled for 19-20 March, a tournament which will hand out at least €1,700 in cash prizes.

We idk if would be a qualifier in Portugal so we paid sooner. Good Part is that will be 3 teams in London (K1ck, DoW, qualifier winner). gl all. Super Summarized: We dont will be attending to Qualifier.

My bad didn't realize this was another qualifier (very tired atm). I meant because they don't seem to have that many LOCAL competitions these days, such as Germany or Sweden. (Even Denmark has the Copenhagen thing)

Not sure, as MIRAA stated "k1ck have already signed up for the final event, but they may still attend the qualifier in order to save up some money." The same might happen with DoW, unless they are rich guys :)

Not qualified..They both signed up, but are both paying their expenses, they might choose to attend this qualifier so they can travel at free cost, but it would be nice if they didn't do such so we could have 3 Portuguese teams going, which would be pretty good..for Portuguese cs now'a'days.

ryanair to any airport in england then either train or megabus.com for like €5-10max to london. Train would be afew €'s quite cheap seeing as ryanair are dirrrrt cheap for flights around europe to UK. Theres loads of hostels in london for for like €10-20 a night aswell just search the web, probably cheaper for someone to come over than most people in the UK to get a direct train to london lol

Maybe this is a stupid question but how come they dont have qualifiers in France, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Nordic, etc why just Portugal or are there other ones? Just seems a bit off that they only have qualifiers for one country

Because this is an ideia of Eptournaments, which is a portuguese organization. They're ideia it's to pay the expenses to the best team in order to attend the 4kings lan "efortless". If some french organization decides to do it, France will have one too!

In fact, there are 2 teams in portugal which have already payed everything (DoW and k1ck). this qualifier, as far as I know, will give payed expenses to the ones who apply to the qualifier, but I dont know if the event has room for one more portuguese team if k1ck and dow do not attend to the qualifier, since as you said above, there are other countries with better teams then portugal's ones which deserve a spot in the event too and have already sign in at the 4kings event site

the reason we are starting off in Portugal is to build up the northern EU region, one country at a time. Essentially, we want to run a host of qualifiers per event that are hosted with partnering organizers...which would allow teams that are unable to fully fund themselves, the opportunity to travel Europe and compete in video games. Portugal seemed to be a clear option, since it is right next door to the UK and this is our first event. So definitely a good place to start from and expand outwards. Going to be fun :D!

cs is more active in Portugal than in Spain. And if some spanish even organizer had talk to the 4k lan organization with a rock solid project they would have a qualifier to. To put it easy to you.. Portugal will make a lan event to raise money, this money will pay for the traveling expensives of this team. 4k only gave them the authority to use their name on this event.

spain is definitely a great place to host a qualifier. We've been in contact with GameGune for the summer series of our event. Portugal will be our first event with partners, so we would like to see this evolve first before starting something new. hopefully people will agree with us, and show us that they would like the next qualifier in their country :D
