EPS Summer 2011 with €40,000

The Electronic Sports League has disclosed the prize purse for the EPS Summer 2011 season.

The LAN finals of the upcoming season will hand out a total of €20,000, with the winner alone receiving half of that figure.

However, the prestigious league will also give away €20,700 in the form of victory bonuses, making it a total prize purse of €40,700 for the season.

EPS Summer 2011 will feature a new system, as the 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four, with the top two sides from each group progressing to the playoffs.

The new season, which will be played over eight weeks, will have the following distribution for the finals:

1. €10,000
2. €5,000
3. €3,000
4. €
2,000

I wonder if they could actually make more money by making a decent quality for free. It will give more spectators, which should give more income from sponsors. They could even try to mention their sponsors more. On the fly I've absolutely no idea who their sponsors are. :p At least a membership is not really worth it, when all/many of the matches are at the same time.

With the average tournament we get 5000 views a day. At dreamhack summer 2010 (our first event with shoutcasting) we had 25000 views in total, over 4 days. And we barely announced anything as we didn't plan to do it in english yet :P we started in dutch (first 1 or 2 days, can't remember) then got alot of requests to do it in english, after which we switched and pulled in massive viewer numbers. ever since we do english :p

I know im not a troll, so no allusion taken, but im just commenting what i have heard... I always see Germans defending ESL, and i have nothing against it, but, the many people saying they havent received money cant be a coincidence...

Yeah you are kind of right. Sometimes there are merely payment delays of the sponsors, but this is always in accordance with the conditions. Sometimes it makes more sense for them, to wait for an economically more convenient time to pay out the prize money. There are after all, amounts of up to 500,000€ and more for the IEM series for example. This can sometimes take a bit and is annoying as well but has always been paid as far as I know.

In Germany CSS is a big thing.. the CSS community at ESL-Germany is already bigger than the 1.6 one. Sad but true ;/
