ESL denies Lions-redCode rematch

The Electronic Sports League has told HLTV.org that the match between Lions and redCode will not be replayed.

After Group B came to an end last night, the Swedish team filed a complaint to the tournament admins after learning the former WeMade FOX had used illegal settings.

Under German law, CS competitions cannot use blood settings, which means that even after you have killed an opponent, you will not see blood coming out of their body.

However, redCode managed to play the entire event with blood settings on, which Lions feel that was an advantage to the Koreans.

The Swedish team finished their group in fourth place, and the 16-8 defeat to redCode in their final group match deprived them of a place in the playoffs.

In case of beating redCode in the rematch, they would leapfrog fnatic and Na´Vi in Group B and advance to the relegation stage.

The ESL acknowledged that that redCode's use of blood settings was unfair, but stated there is nothing in the rulebook that says a match has to be replayed in light of a situation like this.

I don't understand what you mean by an excuse? Lions are the ones using it as an excuse for their loss. Redcode have nothing to complain about since they got away with it. Do you mean they shouldn't of been excused by ESL? Excuse the misunderstanding :P

You cant tell if you did a hs on a pistol round for an example, and we both know if you headshot someone with the usp you automaticly draw the aim down to the body and the same with glock, you cant tell if you headshoted there too, and if legshot someone with the AWP, you cant tell because theres no bloodsplash. And you can also see if there is any blood on the wall if you have shot thru a smoke a little earlier, to see if there was a player there, and if he damaged him.

Yes, 3 players from redCode changed the settings (which is not allowed) so they can see the blood. The ESL admins is VERY strict about it, so it suprises me that they dont care about it.

They lost all other matches, so no, they wouldn't need to replay the other matches. And RedCode even AGREED to play the match again, I guess ESL is just afraid of Lions winning and sending fnatic home since they have "sent" fnatic through to playoffs.

the blood settings, as already said in this topic, tells you when u hs someone. imo it is more important for awpers (they know if they shot the leg or if they did not hit at all) and on pistol/eco rounds (u know when u hs even if u dont kill)

suppose that lions won both pistol rounds that would gave 2 rounds to lions then they won redcode eco's round, so they would be tied 16-8, 16-2 = 14-10, 10+4=14 so 14-14

I was thinking the same, it's not the first time that this team use ilegal settings or smthng like that, i also remember this illegal defuse that disqualified EG, youtube.com/watch?v=T6V1RgLCjjI This team does these kind of things on purpose, they know i'ts illegal, thats why i dont want them to win anything.

wcg 2007 was four years ago for gods sake get over it already. The illegal defuse happens and lots of teams have done it even your beloved fnatic and sk. They explained the situation on fps korea and agreed to what ever decision esl chooses to make so it's not their problem anymore.

What controversy? this has nothing to do with redcode really, they agreed to what ever decision esl choose to make. It's an uncommon rule it's not like they went out to exploit an advantage, I love how many people on this site are uneducated and overly xenophobic.

To be fair, it's a pretty uncommon rule, it's quite possible that they didn't know about it. And i'm pretty sure at an event like this that several ESL admins would of noticed that they had blood settings on while they were playing, (as admins have to watch the games being played to prevent ghosting etc), and didn't do anything about it/realise they shouldn't of had blood on.

the things is that ESL didnt tell Red Code that they wasn't allowed to play with blood so the fault is the ESL admins. and RedCode agreed to do a rematch its just that if ESL allow this rematch then they more or less need to re play all of RedCodes matches and that ESL dont want.

No, because they LOST the other matches and the blood gives them an ADVANTAGE, not disadvantage. Meaning they shouldn't be rewarded any rematches, it's Lions who should be rewarded with a rematch.

It's a good call imo. If they called a rematch it would be such a fail. If a match is played on the stage there are some peoples from esl(i guess) behind the players, so i think they are there to check and execute if someone break the rules. This is the only situation to rematch imo. It's a admin fail, but to call a rematch would be just worser. Sry for my not perfect english ;)

if u dont understand a reason for this your iq must be below the shoe number. redCode used illegal settings , they broke the rules. thats it not much to understand? its almost same like lions would have a model with a penis , and koreans not. think it that way like solo would be sneaking up in the house (inferno) and notices a dick of gux behind the wall , sure he's gonna check there like wtf is this.

You talk about iq, dick, penis and what not. You are so sure of your superiority over the rest of human population that I don't think you are really looking for an answer whenever you state something. You just want people to accept it prima facie. Sad that's not gonna happen here. Illegal settings (which really affect the game in a big way) is one thing and talking about blood settings is another. Anyone who has played CS for long enough will acknowledge that it's a lame attempt. Bye.

well firstly im complete opposite , i dont think im special in any way. Secondly i didnt say if it was lame or not , but it was illegal still. surely they not gonna have a rematch over a blood issue but rules are rules , no matter if it was ghosting , illegal defuse or a blood. you gotta stick to the rules.

It would be funny if redcode lost, and then made a complaint that they used blood setting, and then got a rematch lmfao. Get over it, they definetly should of dropped inferno and play better against them. Also massive fail from admins not checking, and plus im sure the rulebook is like the size of a harry potter book, and its probably in german/english and you really think every korean knows how to read it >.>

The koreans didnt only break the rules, they broke the law. It's not only against the rules to play with blood, but against the law according to the german law book. So I guess Lions could file a lawsuit if they wanted to bring the matter even further.

I think it's quite fair that there's no rematch. I don't like redcode, but still i don't think it gave them any advantage at all, playing with blood on.

What ? 100 times easier to determine if a person is low on health after combat. And Legshots ??? And so on... Ofcourse an significant advantage that should simply not be there..

It was replaced by some yellow plasma liquid thing, so it's the same thing.

Im sure nothing in the rulebook says about having an Usb Rocket canon by your computer and distracting your oponents. This is cleary an effort to cheat or get an advantage in a way they knew was unfair. I beleive this kind of thinking should be punished. Anyways, any of you remember how much e-STRO whined at every event over practically everything.. Revenge would have been sweet Im sorry for you lions.

Under German law, CS competitions cannot use cl_righthand 1 settings, which means that even after you have killed an opponent, you will not see gun in his right hand. strange laws imo

Koreans doing shady things in tournaments is nothing new and has been around for years. They will do what ever they can to win or get the advantage like when the crouch hopped for the entire tournament and then called others out on it. The have been caught ghosting before and numerous other BS like boosts, illegal flash, illegal defuses, and ect. Here are some. hltv.org/news/1620-e-stro-to-final-after.. hltv.org/news/4318-wemade-fox-stay-at-ar..

Wouldn't it be an illegal config since those commands are not allowed

in the rulebook are just a few commands which must be used. Such as net_graph 0 or cl_lw 1... the rest is not defined. IEMV Rulebook: part 6.2.2 gfx.esl-europe.net/gfx/media/masters/rul.. Sorry I don't know why all my links are fucked up :/

In reality the score was like 16-7 for redcode. If the game would have been 16-13/14 then MAYBE 1 in 10 chance it would have made some difference.
