MaXlan cuts prizes by half
The MaXlan organisation has announced that it has decided to cut the Counter-Strike prize purse by 50 percent.
The tournament organisation had announced a €7,000 prize purse for the CS competition with hopes that it would attract a large number of teams from France and the nearby countries.
However, the slim number of signed up teams has forced the MaXlan chiefs to reduce the number of participants from 64 to 32 and substantially reduce the prize money.
MaXlan 2011 will take place from 18-20 March in Épinal, a commune in northeastern France, with the LAN event expected to attract over 1,000 players.
The new prize distribution for the CS tournament will be as follows:
1. €2,000
2. €1,000
3. €500
Stay tuned to HLTV.org for full coverage of MaXlan 2011, which will feature the likes of Millenium, Electronic Sahara and QWERTY.
