ESL shuts down EPS Alpen

The Electronic Sports League has announced that all EPS Alpen competitions have been terminated.

At the same time, the ESL has decided to lift the ban on teams from Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein in ESL Germany.

The ESL has justified the decision with the request from several gamers from the Alps to have the user group fused with that of ESL Germany.

This means that all teams who used to compete in EPS Alpen must now sign up on the ESL Germany's website and earn a spot in EPS through the local EAS divisions.

Since these teams will enter the Amateur Series through the second division, they can only reach the EPS league next year, at the earliest.

The ESL Alpen website will remain online, but the ladders and leagues will be shut down. In the future, instead of leagues and ladders, there will be cups with prize money and hardware for the Alpen players.

plan-B were the last winner of EPS Alpen, beating TheyKickAss in the final last month.

By merging certain countries with eachother to form a single league ESL could gain so much more. Add FR and UK to EPS Benelux. If they claim to be working for the gamers best interests they should at least consider this as an option. They would get more ESL Premium signups as well.

Seriously great news bout time ESL closed up shop on those random EPS...tbh they should only have; EPS Spain (Spain + Portugal) EPS France (France + Switzerland) EPS GErmany (Germany + Austria) EPS Benelux EPS Nordic EPS UK EPS Balkans EPS East (Russia,Ukraine,Estonia,Poland,Czech,Sk) thats it! but then they go and drop CS from ESP.France which makes no sense even their press release made absolutely no sense the only thing that keeps ESL on the map is IEM and EMS.....they completely screw up all their online leagues. It just sucks that no one has the cash to throw together a good league that can incorporate all of Europe...they need something like etf2l.org for CS because ESL never has been a good online league and they are slowly removing CS from all EPS even Germany and Nordic will be gone within a year and half.
