digifest to finish online

The digifest organisation has announced that the remainder of the Counter-Strike tournament will be played online.

The decision was reportedly made after one player from RESET started installing several programs in a row on his computer, which crashed as a result.

Due to the lack of spare computers and the fact that the foreign teams attending the event have to return home, the CS competition has been put on hold.

On the first day, technical issues caused the tournament to start several hours after the planned time, with the organisation surprisingly changing the Lower Bracket matches to Max Round 10 to try to gain some ground.

Power Gaming were already in the Grand Final after beating fellow countrymen Online Kingdom in the Upper Final.

There are still seven matches left to be played in the Lower Bracket before the second finalist can be found.

The tournament also faced criticism after failing to flip the order of the teams that come from the Upper Bracket into the Lower Bracket every two rounds, which is a common standard in every event.

why shoulnt they be blamed? when we played against RESET yesterday we literally waited for 2 hours because one of their players "had" to change his monitor for at least six times :) i dunno what happened today, but i assume its even more serious shit.

They can be blamed, at worst, for crashing one pc. How on earth should they be blamed for the total fiasco of the tournament? Matches where RESET played weren't the only ones with the delays, the entire tournament was a one big fucking delay. Few things to consider: 1. An event with such sponsors should have spare pcs. 2.I saw at least 4 teams competing at the same time, meaning there are at least 20 pcs so they could've finished this at LAN. 3. Why weren't "users" created so that players wouldn't be able to install software and mess up the comps?

i didnt mean to put the whole fiasco for RESET's fault, no way. but it seriously took like 1,5-2 hours because of that one player to get it ready (if i heard right, it was only because of some hz stuff). The main fail was ofc digifest's. And #23 he tried many monitors from different manufacturers so i doubt it was because of the monitors...

Thanks for the clarification :) Because when you responded "why shoulnt they be blamed" it sounded like all Lith teams were responsible for the failure of the tournament. And I'm sorry that you had to wait that long. I can imagine how frustrating this could be.

As far as I've understood, there were only 20 PC's available, meaning four teams (two matches) could be on at the same time. This meant that every time a match ended, the teams had to unplug and new teams got seated. With such a tight schedule, it really beats me how you as an organizer can think this would work. Everyone, who just has a little knowledge with CS, knows how many things you have to fix in order for your setup to work, but also how many things can go wrong. I feel sorry for the teams that went there and especially the teams who had to play the LB matches with MR10, never ever in my career have I seen such a bad call from the organizers. Hope they've learned from this and SHAME on you, who ever organized this tournament.

srsly you can't just blame the admins for the delays when we all know players are fucking slow to join servers and take breaks every fucking minute! and please tell me why the RESET player is installing loads of shit on the computers? Before you start flaming me I don't blame the Lithuanians in particular but almost every player at the lan(NOT EVERY PLAYER).

Keep in mind that people should have necessary time to set up and configure their PC's (I know people take advantage of it, but CS isn't just Plug and Play). As I wrote in my comment, the problem was the amount of PC's, and apparently the quality

ofc, they should have some time to set up and configure but how long does it take? Im not a pro, nor do I play CS anymore but it doenst take a lot of time to install your mouse driver, mousefix etc so I don't really understand why it takes so long before they are ready. srsly you know when the match is starting and they have breaks before the end of the previous match and the upcoming match so why dont the teams use that break to set up? for me the amount of wasted time is one of the major reasons CS never gonna grow any bigger then it is and its also unfair to blame the admins every time there is a delay at an event.

I've seen teams be ready in 30mins, which includes setting up and warming up a bit. But you see, if a match started at 12, and the next is scheduled to 13, you simply need to have more PC's available, otherwise theres not a snowballs chance in hell you can make it in time. Simply, as a match can take up to 45mins (if we play all 30rounds and add freezetime), on top of that you can go to overtime. I completely agree with you that wasted time and delays play a huge factor at 9/10 events, but often it's problems with the equipment from the tournament side.

I understand what you are saying and I acknowledge that you know more then me when it comes to non-byoc events. I've always thought that they got 1xPC for every player that is registered for the event but I might be wrong. Still I mean its wrong to blame the admins every time like its done by the majority of the community here on HLTV.org, since you always see players joining late or going afk right before the start. I can even give you an example when BEV played against animus(might be wrong) today and the BEV players said ready 3 times before the last animus player said he was ready cuz he was cocking about with something else. I think that they should punish players/teams when they behave like that, ofc its simple for me to say so when I don't have all the facts but something should be done.

As I said, I agree, players take advantage of the liberty of "free" time. But really speaking of experience, usually delays are due to the tournament equipment or similar.

I agree. There are delays in nearly every tournament due to the fact that it takes ages for players to join and people shouldn't blame organisers for that. But that idiot Meee has a point. Users should've been created so that players couldn't install software.

In addition to the utmost precise comment of Nixon I would only like to add that the fact that the organizers actually went this far as to blame a player for ruining the tournament is a blasphemy! Since, it would be no difference than to blame rat which gnawed the internet cable. If this fact points to anything then it must be the stupidity, incompetence and wickedness of the organizers.

Agree with Nix0n(#38), in addition i bet there will be no digifest from nowon. But what caused this all?Organizers wanted to get more profit. Moreover, there were no updates from event. You could only get some information from mirc, where estonians called organizers(their friends) to get information.Site updated 2 times : one was stream link and one was from first day end.THATS IT How can you organize a lan like this. However, i knew it's going to be happen. About MR 10.Mby they should only played knife round, so it could go quicker.Who cares. People spent money to get to Tallinn and stay in hotel and now wtf... I feel sad to LTU,LV,FI people. And Estonians. This will be recorded to history of CS forever as the WORST event. AND PLEASE DONT BLAME ALL ESTONIANS AS NATION.IT IS NOT THEIR F-ING FAULT THAT 2 GUYS F-ED EVERY SINGLE GAMER

Nah, they'll never make profit and so far, it's all going to pay off the debts accumulated from past events, or well, was supposed to, anyway. Instead, they decided they should get some random Estonian singer and build him a stage, spend well over half the actual budget and fuck themselves over six ways to Sunday. Will be cool to see how they'll pay the winners and send them to the "mysterious big event with everything paid for" (protip: DreamHack). The trip will most likely be cancelled and them saying "the prize money will be paid in 3 months, c'mon, every big event does that". After that, there's probably gonna be some fairytales on how the 2500€ was actually combined with prizes and the trip, some supporters failed them and how they'll compensate it next time (like free tickets to the event or something cool). That's all if the Tallinn University of Technology won't pay for the visionary's, mcz (da head organizer, da man) shit he created. As far as I know, rent for the Solaris rooms was next to nothing and they could have done 99x better (and maybe even succeed) if it weren't for the completely unrealistic plans for everything, as it has been every event so far. You don't expect to get 1,000€ from entry fees and then host a LAN that costs 15,000€. All in all, to everybody who's complaining about what Estonians are doing wrong, it's time to stop. It's just the great and mindless organizing by the head organizer and his complete self-deceit. And all that is the reason why I quit organizing that event after the one in October.

The tournament was a fail indeed. After all the epic fail was Munkkas LAN performance. Kids come first time to foreign lans and get 4 rounds. Couldnt believe what I saw munkka do in train terrorist side pistol round. They ran the bomb into CT spawn and completely fakked their round. Not that they would have won that anyway, I really enjoyed seeing these teenagers dropping back to the ground. PG even lost the another pistol round and still manage to win 16-4. Status raped =SHAKY HANDS= THIS IS WHEN YOU DONT HAVE YOUR OWN TABLE/COMPUTER/SETTINGS AND MOM BRINGING COCA-COLA AND FOOD. LOL And ofc there is Online Kingdom, but let's not go there. ..lol Rocky road to cpl, how many years you still think you have to get there? With performance like this finnish CS is dead at the moment ruuit co. quits

Heh, it is hopeless to blame players for this tournament fail. Administrators are people who needs to supervise tournament/players and make sure that every problem would be solved. I have strange feeling that it would be more funny when first place would try to get their prize. :D
