Balkan Challenge Summer announced

The organizers behind Balkan Challenge Summer have announced a 24-team tournament with €2,700 up for grabs.

The event will take place at the Bits and Bytes store in Trikala, between 9-10 July, and is set to hand out €2,700 in cash prizes.

With names such as Delinquent Habits, goa-clan and HEADSHOTBG on the attendance list, the organizers are hoping to attract teams outside of Greece.

The tournament will see six groups of four teams, played on 45 accommodated computers, advancing the top two holds out of each group.

On the following day, the tournament will continue in a best-of-three, double-elimination manner.

Balkan Challenge Summer prize distribution:

1. €1,500
2. €700
3. €400
4. €100
5. Hardware
6. Hardware

Teams who wish to participate in the Greek event are required to sign up through e-mail to [email protected] and pay an entry fee of €100.

high entry fees, doubt that some teams with no sponsors gonna enter, but still nice to see a tournament in the balkans :)

without any sponsor it`s impossible to cover expenses (travel , hotel , food etc) :\

the entry fee prize is not high since its played lan anyway compared with our shitty scene/tournaments where our latest online cup named Code Festival entry fee costs 50e, and then when they saw that no one is going to pay them 50euros for some online league they decided to make it only for fun, shitty stuff

life here is expensive. per day you will spend minimum 10 euros. Coffee 3.50/3.00e junk food suvlaki or something 2.20/2.50e cigars 3.80e or more drink 8.00e

i think everyone, unless you are seriously addicted to alcohol. :D i havent touched alcohol in about 2/2.5 months, because of my diet and still im not feeling like i need some alcohol at all^^

If there is no sponsor and with currently no active top Greek teams the chances of an ESWC qualifier are slim.

it's too bad that this tour is announced to hltv.og while other major tournaments hasnt. this tour is convicted to failure because of its location. I predict maximun 10teams to attend including 2-3 .bg teams. It's gonna reflect very bad for greek scence because ppl will think "they tried only one event in past 2-3 years and they failed" while its been at least 10 bigger than that.

so guys like you will full the 24 slots at Trikala, while in athens we usually are 15-20 including 2-3 bulgarian teams? anyway you miss my point, which is not go so much in public about this event while we pray for a wcg,ecg and eswc qual. even if suddenly will appear 10 unknown teams then will lack of quality.

Dont be so sure that there will not be any tournament..There are only 10 slots left to make the tournament..If you cant come for some reasons maybe economical or personal then dont come...This doesnt mean that the others wont come...As far the other greek cs tournaments is consered can you tell me what prizes did they had?Back in 2007 there was a tournament in Trikala and there were 20 teams who participate in it..And if there was a cancelation on a tournament 3 years ago as you claim this doesnt mean tha it will happen again :P

sactw and everybody...this tournament is at the center of greece at a town called Trikala...so Greek teams can easily come without traveling many hours like going from athens to thessaloniki or other long distance cities...There are 2 reasons we announced the tournament so early..1st reason is that so many teams and players can organize theyr schedule for them to be here..2ond reason is for the teams that are in other countries..if they close the tickets from now then all the trip will be much cheaper than doing it the last week...and finaly the time for the tournament is perfect..many teams and players will also see it like a summer trip..timing is great..more than 24 teams will want to participate..get in line...
