digifest to revamp staff

The digifest organisation has announced that it will make drastic changes to its staff ahead of the next event.

This decision comes after the massive problems which occurred at the last event, held in March, where the Counter-Strike tournament faced a "catastrophy", in the words of the organisation.

Technical issues caused severe delays in the competition and ultimately made the organisation decide that the remainder of the tournament would have to be played online.

"People who were responsible for the part of the whole project in question will find replacements from the old EAK organization," a digifest statement read.

The event organisation has revealed that the four Lithuanian teams who attended the event - RESET, MMORI, ultra-h and HeadsWillRoll - have been banned from future editions for "inexcusable behaviour".

Contacted by HLTV.org, the digifest chiefs stated that this is a provisional measure until they learn the names of the Lithuanian players who were involved in an incident with the bus company who would take the teams from Estonia back to their homeland.

The use of alcohol and cigarettes by the players in the question and the fact they disturbed other passengers made the company ban a total of 40 people and cancel the return trip.

"We had to use another transportation in order to keep our word regarding the transportation costs and the coverage of it," digifest chief Martin Veermäe told HLTV.org.

"Even though the extra costs are not enormous, we still feel that it is injust for us to be responsible for the extra fees and the time that it took for the organizers to get another transportation that fast (within couple of hours - to organize a busload of people from Estonia to Latvia-Lithuania) as we already had a lot of techical problems in the CS 1.6 tournament and huge delay's."

Meanwhile, it has been announced that the next edition of digifest will take place in October in Tallinn, with the event hosting a qualifier for "the most desired e-sports tournament."

The digifest online tournament is still underway, with Power Gaming, who come from the Upper Bracket, set to meet Online Kingdom, a match which has not yet been scheduled.

It is surely not idiotic to use alcohol and cigarettes, but there are big shit load of bars in the City Centre of Tallinn (but due to EU laws they cannot smoke there too) But who would like to see some random Lithuanian nerds invading Estonian bars/nightclubs?

i did ^^ if i didnt do anything in that bus just trip 10hours and sleeping when i get to tourney, we have waited 8hours for our match after that we sit for play my monitor was broken they were fixing 2hours after 1match we was finished FIRST DAY MATCHES ^^. in the morning we waited 2hours after that we played 2 matches and after that 6hours we arguing with admins about our trip to home after all 36peoples putted 500euros and admins gived 500euros because our tickets was banned now say it to me it was our fault that bus tickets was with other people who just sleeps from 10PM to 7:00 and if somebody get laughing or what, they just going to tell bus driver and calling police? its our fault that we need to wait 8hours for match and after all just play 3 matches in two days? and why i need to give ~20euros to admin if he said that trip will be for free? and their spot they was using alcohol in the bus ? they saw that ? they saw that people who drink alcohol or what ? best way just ban those teams and problems for next tournament will be solved. After they rented bus to get us home was same thing VODKA in all the way but we didnt get police in that but we didnt get some blames from bus driver why ? because it was just for us no other people who cant hear any laugh or some shit..that was first of 10 mistakes who digifest organizators did.sorry for my english im village cowboy, milkman, hard worker, WiLD.

After they rented bus to get us home was same thing VODKA in all the way - Veeker, you made my day :DDD It is hard to believe, that vodka is popular only in Latvia and Lithuania, but not in Estonia :DDD Btw, there are some rumors that "the most desired e-sports tournament" will be WCG BALTIC 2011, but I truly believe it is not. Not by digifest crew. Not in Estonia.

This is good news, whats done is done, the only "tragedy" would be to repeat the same mistakes. It could of been a lot worse, (not paid, or just canceled the event) Hopefully teams trust it next time around and continue support.

The worst event ever held in Estonia. I simply don't see why Baltic teams can't come to Sweden for events? I mean, a boat trip costs you less than 200€ per player. You could organize all the events here, it's much cheaper in Sweden then Finland due to them having a stronger economy at the moment.

"a boat trip costs you less than 200€ per player" you just answered your question yourself... Digifest cost for finnish teams 15 euros per player and we got boat trips to estonia, food 3 times a day and an accommodation in a decent hotel. Travel was also cheap, like 1-2e per face with cab. I wonder what all that would cost in Sweden and I dont think there will ever be a "free" event like this for finns (and baltic etc) in sweden...

Well, you forget that the quality would be much better aswell. You seem also to forget that swedish LAN's are the best one made out there, with the most stable internet. Don't also forget that Sweden is a good country when it comes to everything.. Unlike Finland that has only good educational system (be proud, your country has the best teachers/professors/so on in the world. I'd say that it's more decent to have an event in Sweden where you also have loads of participants coming from every corner in Scandinavia...

Dont be like that :) And btw guys, make love not war, its just one failed CS event. Atleast someone tried to organize something, cant recall any other baltic country hosting an international event in the past 3-4-5 years. So it failed, who cares, next time they know how to make it better and avoid the mistakes. We need to support the organizers and hope theres another event coming in which we can all take part of :). Long live the BALTIC STATES !!
