fnatic PLAY reaches semi-finals

The fnatic PLAY tournament has reached the semi-finals, with just four teams remaining from the field of 32 teams. fnatic and Virtus.pro will meet from the top half and DTS and TCM-Gaming from the bottom end of the bracket will play off for the other spot in the final.

fnatic had a good run through the bracket, with victories over Veritas and Online Kingdom in the first two rounds. In the third round they came up against dakarma, who had just knocked out the Nexen champions Millenium, but the Danish were no match for the hosts, going down two maps to nil.

Virtus.pro reached the semi-finals after making short work of yeswecan and Living Fire. In their quarter-final, they were matched up with Russian compatriot's Moscow Five. This match would prove to be an epic thriller with Virtus.pro coming out ahead, in three close maps.

DTS started off with the ideal start, knocking over Stokrotka Team in straight maps. In their round of 16 match, they had a lengthy encounter with Underdog$, in which they prevailed in three tight maps. Their day was far from over, in what would be the last match of the day, DTS would take on a2g in a match that eclipsed three hours, finishing at 03:00CET. DTS winners, two maps to one.

The final team to make it through to the semi-finals is TCM-Gaming. TCM-Gaming managed to breeze past XYSMA, KaoS and USSR without dropping a map to secure their spot in the final four.

no, fnatic is too solid on a high level while DTS can only reach a high level of play once in a while. DTS beating fnatic is a huge longshot.

not really, that match was plagued with lagouts and connection problems. They have pretty much displayed their dominance in Russia multiple times. They are for sure the #1 russian team. I would say atm its 1. M5 2. USSR 3. Virtus

I couldn't agree more with your top3. I totally agree M5 is by far the best team in Russia. They are the only team who can perform well internationally. And so is mTw, what I'm trying to say is that the Russian elite is playing with each other so often so they know each other very well. The same situation with the Danish elite. mTw always has problems against other top teams from Denmark. M5 losing to Virtus.pro and KerchNET on the internet says nothing.

if DTS manages a win vs. TCM (which would be cool imo) there is no chance Virtus will win vs. TCM. I have great admiration of some of the players on Virtus, but i really think they are playing an outdated style of CS, and i think they will pay for it.

I know I saw that in the brackets of the event thing, I just meant did they PLAY and they lost 2-0 or did they get disqualified? Which ends up as a Default win 2-0. Also did they play bad or did a2g play well?
