tao cancel ICSC 8 participation

tao have canceled their Intel Challenge Super Cup 8 participation as a vital sponsor disconintues his support.

The Russian side made it through the tournament's two group stages and were seemingly ready for the finals this weekend.

However, after learning that the team's sponsor had decided to discontinue his support yesterday, the squad has now canceled their involvement in the tournament.

"During the tournament, we had a sponsor that promised us that we would go to ICSC 8 finals. Also, he supported tao during this tournament and some previous Russian tourneys," Boris "watti" Litvyakov said.

"After the 2nd group stage, he confirmed our journey, so everybody was sure that we would go to Kiev. But suddenly, Tuesday night, he told us that he won't help us. We regret it has to be like this, and we wish to apologize to the ICSC 8 organizers."

They were originally drawn into Group A along with SK Gaming, Frag eXecutors and KerchNET, but now join the massive list of teams who have dropped out of the tournament.

Contacted by HLTV.org, Intel Challenge Super Cup 8 organizers stated they will evaluate the situation with tao's exit sometime during the day.

Before people freak out about all the drops, they should consider that the prizemoney isn't really that huge, also it's in the middle of july, where most people tend to book a vacation. If the date were given before playing the qualifiers, we probally would't see so many teams drop out. It's really hard gamers to have a normal life, if we should just cancel everything we got going.

the date of the lan finals was changed so surely some people had booked a vacation for that weekend as they thought it was free. then add some sponsors bailing and some teams going emo over ping and voilá.

How should all the teams know the date, when it wasn't given? Should we just put our lifes on hold, and await the organizers to give us the exact date? If we knew it would be ran this weekend 1 month ago, i would't have booked a flight to Spain.

shame, but it's not their fault, the sponsor is to blame. Imho the sponsor should be named and shamed for this, maybe stop other sponsors from thinking they can just pull out when they want.

I'm expecting ICSC to find a replacement on very short notice since this shouldn't be too hard and it will make the tournament more interesting. It will probably be one of the following teams: selectah (aMi, vad1k, strike, barracuda, lmbt) DTS (ANGE1, craft1k, kucher, xaoc, pops) tao.OverDrive (OverDrive, LeX, MNR, hally, kioken, redman, ANGE1, craft1k, kucher, xaoc, lmbt, strike, aMi) TMS (valentiniCh, Share, Pr1znak, fox, ...)
