Global Challenge Guangzhou revealed
The ESL has announced that the second Global Challenge of the Intel Extreme Masters season six will take place in Guangzhou, China.
Season six of the Intel Extreme Masters will kick off with its first event next month, with the Global Challenge Cologne, which will be staged at the gamescom expo. The event will however not feature Counter-Strike, as it will clash with e-Stars Seoul.
Today the ESL revealed the second Global Challenge, which is going to take place in Guangzhou, China. The Global Challenge will be featured at the Ani-Com & Games expo and will run October 1-5. The Global Challenge will also feature all three of the IEM game titles: Counter-Strike, StarCraft II and League of Legends.
This will be the first appearance of Counter-Strike in season six and the Global Challenge will feature $40,000 in prizes for the popular FPS game, as well as two spots for the World Championship for the first place and runner-up. Qualifiers for the Global Challenge will be announced very soon.
On the IEM website the splash screen still has four events to be announced: North America, Europe, South America and World. World is expected to be the World Championship, which is expected to once again take place at CeBIT in Hannover, March 2012.
