The US Army announce a $200,000 sponsorship of the biggest online gaming league over a multitude of games.

A short while ago the GGL announced that the US Army would be sponsoring their league. However, they have recently announced something even better. An online league for gamers of all sorts featuring an awesome prize purse of $200,000 and it will be called the Army Gaming Championships (AGC).

We want YOU! Win cash prizes and protect the free world in the Army Gaming Championships, one of the world’s largest online video game competitions. Sponsored by the U.S. Army, the AGC will see the world’s best gamers competing for their share of $200,000 in cash and prizes.

The league commences on June 1st and will include two main game categories, PC games & Console games. Here is the list of games to be played:

i think its funny how it some countries in the middle-east and asia violent games like cs are banned and yet in the USA the US army are promoting it? :D difference in societies!!!

good news for the gaming scene and bad news for 1.6 :> i remember reading somewhere that the US army uses 360-like controllers to guide their newest robots. which is probably why they're getting involved with gaming, as it's just another source for finding some skills :> www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/06/07/army-using-xbox-360-controllers-for-sugvs/

Yeah i totaly dont understand it, i mean where are Space invaders and Pacman in that list. It realy sucks when big money leagues and top rated competitions start to leave the tired , dull and out dated games on the wayside and start promoting newer games that use all that nice modern hardware everyone is so keen to get their hands on. I realy just dont get.
