Moscow Five skip ASUS Summer

Moscow Five have announced they will be skipping ASUS Summer 2011 as the team is in the need of a rest.

The Russian squad got eliminated at GameGune 2011 with a 16-11 loss on de_nuke against Electronic Sahara in the lower bracket, a somewhat disappointing result.

The next tournament for the team was set to be ASUS Summer in Kiev next month, where the team got a direct invite from the organizers. The team has in the meantime issued a news post saying they will be skipping the event. The reason behind the decision is according to the news post based on the fact that the team is tired and is in the need a vacation.

Moscow Five need of a rest

In the news team manager Maxim "nirvana_sf'' Zalilov explains that the team has attended all of the major tournaments in the first half of the year and it has in fact been six months without a break. A mixture of fatigue and a poor show at GameGune, the team has decided to call timeout and go on vacation.

It is furthermore stated that the team will not be playing in the online qualifiers for the IEM6 Global Challenge in Guangzhou. Moscow Five's next tournament is expected to be in the Russian qualifier for the 2011 World Cyber Games, which will be played in the early days of September.

Unless you have the crystal ball, you have no way to predict such thing. I accept they're unstable, but they've done awesome matches vs SK/FX/Na'Vi therefore they're favorites as the teams you've mentioned.

If someone deserves a vacation, it's definitely these guys. They have been playing cs non-stop for a long time. They definitely need to chill out and come back even stronger.

They played very disappointing at GameGune but obviously they wanted a bit too much. they played well at IEM Europe, IEM World, XPERIA, Dreamhack, ICSC so this disappointing performance was only a question of time. I think they could come out stronger if they take some rest and build up motivation again.

Why would they skip Asus? Of all the tournaments they've played in in the past few months, you'd think Asus would be one of the ones they'd be pretty much assured to make some money in since a lot of top teams likely won't be there. I feel like this isn't a "break" they're taking. I think they're changing their line-up after the recent disappointing results. There's no way they'd be skipping Asus if they weren't undergoing changes, because it's basically guaranteed $$$ for them.

even though it might almost be guaranteed money (navi will possibly attend again and DTS will definitely be there along with Virtus.pro), M5 players get a fairly high salary compared to other international top teams and it's summer. I agree there is a chance for them to change their lineup but most likely they are just going to take a summer break

Their owner said that this lineup will be till 2012, so they will be playing all tournaments with this lineup.

A lot of teams would love to be in their skin, having a salary, enough support to attend ALL tournaments and so. But these guys prefer to rest. Moscow Five impressed in this half year, but if they can't with the pressure they won't never step up fot the next level. I'm not attacking them, I just don't understand how can you skip a tournament because "you're tired" to play a game. I can understand that you maybe are a bit tired psychologically of playing a lot every day, but SK, fnatic, Na`Vi, these teams play the same or more than them and I don't see them claiming for their rest.
