First EU New York qualifier concluded

The first European qualifier for IEM6 Global Challenge New York has come to an end, with Moscow Five, mousesports, mTw and Lions advancing to the final qualifier in two weeks.

It took nearly ten hours before the qualifier came to an end, with Lions being the last team to advance, with a 2-1 victory over SK Gaming. Lions' win could be the headline of the qualifier, but Frag eXecutors' loss against Alliance from Moldova in round two, would probably be the most interesting topic of the day.

Alliance made it all the way to the fourth round, where they faced off against Moscow Five. The Russians were however too much for Alliance, falling 2-0 and seeing Moscow Five qualify for the final qualifier.

The German team mousesports, who today used a wide range of stand-ins, also made it to the final qualifier, finishing with a 2-0 against notable in their last match.

mTw, who today announced the signing of Michael "Friis" Jørgensen, also made it through to the final qualifier, ending the day with a very solid 2-0 victory against WinFakt.

The first four teams qualified for the final qualifier are:

Moscow Five	mousesports
mTw	Lions

Sunday next week will feature the second qualifier, where another four teams will be found for the final qualifier. The final qualifier will take place September 11 and will see three teams qualify for IEM6 Global Challenge New York.

bad shape? I would not say that, kHRISTAL was a headshot machine, all players played very good, but its also true that SK wasn't playing good :S

You have clearly not watched recent Lions matches. They once again look like a top team after zneel joined. And not only online. At ASUS they almost won versus FX in the semi's.

I'm not sure they are in such bad shape after the lineup change. They did play really good against FX in their first LAN right after the lineup change. FX went right on to beat navi, sk and others in the lan after that. Although, in fairness, Lions problem in the past has always been their inconsistency and perhaps that's still the case. But I think this lineup has a very high highest level. I think they've already proven that.

theres still 2nd quali on next sunday (from which 4 teams also win a spot to the final quali). though no idea about navi since they didnt sign up to guangzheu qualies either.
